i have had some pretty chronic knee pain for the past like 2 years but its really escalated since then. especially last weekend it started to bother me. while skiing it would really hurt on and off but when im not skiing on it it doesnt hurt that bad. it bends backwards a little but more than my other knee but its not swollen. should i see a doctor or am i just being a little puss
Dr NS is out of the office until monday.. but it sounds like Tendonitis which is inflammation from overuse. If it's that, doc will say rest it for awhile and then strengthen the muscles around your knee with various workouts.
if its been a chronic problem that you can't trace back to a single incident, its probably not blown. i would guess tendonitis from overuse or cartilage damage that isnt too severe, or something stemming from a muscular imbalance (probably between your quad and hamstring. go to an orthopedic and get it checked out, unless they find something major that needs to be fixed, they will most likely have you start going to a physical therapist to strengthen the muscles and take it easy on it for a while
also if it was blown, you would be able to trace it back to a particular fall and you would have (potentially severe) stability problems in association to pain. if it just is sore but you can do everything on it fine, you are probably in the clear
