Fat skis in the park??

going to niseko in december, and need to buy some new skis, Niseko being Niseko, you're obviously going to want to get something fat, but i still want to be able to ski park without having to get two sets of skis.
has anyone skied fats in the park a lot, what are your opinions? ski suggestions?

It is! it is at the crystal chair on blackcomb you can go huge and always be fine! off boundary though so don't go too far or your gonna have to hike ;)



Also i rode my surface one lives all season in whistler they are 112 underfoot with mad 3 stage rocker so fun! they are light and super stable on everything would recommend fat skis, thinking about getting the candide 2.0 next year though. They look like a dream!

MartianManThis is the advice you need. Niseko gets a shit load of snow, I don't need to tell you that. Unfortunately, if you are new to park, using fat skis will be a challenge. But a much bigger challenge is skiing pow or pow-covered park in skinny park skis. If you are an experienced park rider, I would go towards a twin rockered pow ski in the mid 110's waist. Some good examples are Faction Candide 3.0, ON3P Jeffery 114, Nordica Patron, and the Blizzard Gunsmoke (there are a lot of good skis in this category so don't limit yourself). Having a ski that can float in pow is miles more important in a place like Niseko. ~100mm waist park skis like Blends, Slats, or Al dentes will make park skiing easier, but will suck with the amount of snow you guys get. You can still have a lot of fun in the park with fat skis (especially if you are experienced), and those I mentioned will be a great fit. Honestly though, if you are committed to both pow and park performance, you really do need two pairs of skis.

I ski everything on the 110 Jeffrey. Its super stable off of jumps and slides the rails as well. Plus like mentioned before 0n3p uses the same edges for practically every ski they make. So hitting rails won't be an issue. Then if you go out about the early rise definitely will keep you afloat through the pow. I've skied in thigh deep cascade concrete with them and they've been just fine.

Threadjack! I've been thinking about getting Moment PB Js for a one ski quiver. Skiing at the most a foot of powder and then back into the park. What do you guys think about that? I've never skied a fat ski but I feel like the dimensions (129 - 101- 121) will be pretty versatile. First hand suggestions anyone? Any other choices I have (line blends, recoils).

I ride my Opus' everywhere. Pow, Trees, Park, East Coast Ice and the Bumps. They are amazing all the time, and I'm sure other similar fat skis that have early rise tips and tails and normal camber underneath will be a nice ski to take anywhere.
