Buying new gear that lasts - HELP!?

If you're going to Niseko you want something 115mm+ with loads of rocker... which is then going to suck massive balls back in Aus.

Since I'm loosely assuming you're going with your parents to Niseko, get them to hire you a fatty pow ski when you're over there (the rentals there are decent but pricey) and get something more practical for what you'll be skiing the rest of the time.

gaper_assasinIm 16 and almost finished growing i think...... i'm about 6 ft 2, i need to start looking for new gear for the ski season ( Niseko this summer ). As i have almost finished growing, i am hopefully no longer in need of new skis and boots every season. I just want some advice on buying gear thats going to last me for longer than a season, what to look for and where to buy it?

thanks, your assumption is correct, i can only dream of skiing internationally on my own!
However, this season i am going to be purchasing my own ski gear as a condition of the trip. In the past i have skied japan on park skis..... I know, who in their right mind would ski deep powder on thin skis? but iv'e grown up skiing in Niseko and have never really struggled with powder skiing until last season (one Armada El Reys) when it was deep i could only sit backseat and bee line through the pow hoping i don't run into trees.
If i was going to be purchasing skis, i would be looking for something at least 100 mm and at most around 115 underfoot and still capable of skiing park and charging groomers.
Any ski suggestions???

al dente? waist is 98 and has some early rise in the tip,and it will slay the park.

ive considered it, but a bit soft for the powder and terrain ill be skiing in Niseko.
You don't really go to somewhere like Japan to ski park, it would just be sick to have skis that can shred pow and kill it in the park.

I skied travelling circus's over in Niseko last summer. The main problem people in Australia make is buying a ski that they wish the conditions were like instead of how the conditions are. You're better off renting powder skis over there as pretty much all rental places carry top of the line fat skis.
