BaltoHonestly none of you had your dad do something like this? Push you off the high dive into the pool or give you a bit of a nudge into a steep ski run when you were standing at the top all freaked out? The kid had a helmet and pads on, he was gonna fall either way, so he might as well get it out of the way and understand what the sensation of dropping off something is.

ThreshyI am going to have to somewhat agree, people these days are way to soft. But in this case the dad could have done it differently.
OCMgetting pushed into a pool is different from someone kicking your board out from under you so you fall 10+ feet on your ass. the kids like 6 come on.
Balto15ft high dive to belly flop when you are like 8 isn't much better

Granite_StateBunch of fucking softies in this thread. If my dad didn't push my to do/try things I would be the largest, sopping vagina there is.
Pussification of America at it's finest ladies and gentlemen.
fghtoffyrdmnsi don't think this is an example of that. Kid could have been seriously injured man. while i agree the human race in general is deevolving, i just don't think its okay to throw your child 10 feet to hard ground

theabortionatorHe's probably one of those guys who didn't succeed at his dreams and wants his son to be awesome at skating so he can live vicariously through him.
TheTrapreading the article about the video it sounds like the kids already awesome, i guess around the park they call him dino the dinasour and is know as a "prodigy" hopefully this doesnt turn him away because the way people described him it sounds like he could have a real future in skateboarding

louie.miragsI really don't see how people can agree with this... It is not like they are out hunting or living off the land and the kid is afraid to shoot a gun, or use an axe. Skateboarding is a sport. He doesn't need to learn. If the kid wants to drop in, he'll do it. Pushing him is not anti-pussification. You cant force a kid to want to play a sport. Maybe he doesn't want to. I have seen fathers force their kids to play sports to fill some sort of void they have, it is sad. Maybe the kid winds up being into theatre. That doesn't make him a pussy. Fuck that father for being a cunt.
theabortionatorIt has nothing to do with people being pussies. It would be one thing if thing was an effective teaching tool but it's not. Especially on a kid that age.
WattsDude, you're, like, so hard. I bet you had the most difficult childhood ever.
GeorgiaJibberAre you fucking kidding me? This kid missed the WHOLE tranny of that pipe, he fucking hit the pipe when there was a 25 degree incline. This kid could have easily broken his tailbone or even had a spinal injury.
Karma is going to be a bitch for his dad...
Granite_StateThe pussification comment was about all the people freaking out at this, not directed towards the son or father. You are also making quite the assumption as a basis for your reply.
Once again, I was talking about the comments on instagram, mainly calling this child abuse. Yes, yes they are being pussies.
Wow, I totally alluded to having a "tough childhood" in that post. Great deduction skills man!
I can tell your the type of kid that likes to exaggerate a story just to make it interesting to people. That kid maybe fell 3 feet to mid tranny and slid out. He essentially did what ever other skateboarder would have done if they bailed. Broken tailbone? Spinal injury? Maybe you grew up with glass bones and paper skin and think a minuscule fall like that could warrant some horrific injury but I'm not convinced. I'd say that would be more likely to happen to a full grown adult opposed to a young kid that weighs much, much less and is more flexible.

Just to let you know, i used to skate vert back when i was in late elementary school-middle school. I can tell you that that pipe had a solid 2.5-3 feet of actual "vert", where the wall is 90 degrees or more. And the way this kids dad pushed him he completely missed the "vert" of that pipe, which makes up for 2.5-3 feet of the ramp. If the kid had just been standing on the top, and jumped in really close to the copping, he would have hit the ramp at a pretty steep incline, which would have been about 4-5 feet bellow and not felt any pain. But if you have ever taken a freaking physics class in your life, you will understand what projectile motion is. Since his dad gave hime a pretty good push, he ended up going about 1.5-2 feet out which result in him going about 10 feet down the pipe hitting the pipe on a relatively flat area, as opposed to him jumping out over the copping.25-.5 feet and him going down 5 feet and hitting the pipe on a relatively steep area. So before you fucking call me out, go and do some real world calculations and not some generalized assumptions.
