Superunknown Finals at Snoqualmie

When I first read on the homepage that the Superunkown finals were going to be at the Summit at Snoqualmie, I honestly thought it might be a joke.

Nothing but love for Snoqualmie, but for those of you who aren't familiar, It didn't open until January this year if I'm not mistaken, and Its potentially the lowest elevation ski area in all of Washington. This comes with very unpredictable and shaky weather, for example: the Red Bull Third Shift competition from a few seasons back.. Due to a freak dump on the day of the competition, none of the riders were able to hit the big air jump they had prepared, and were forced to switch the entire competition to rail jam format.

I feel like the decision by Level 1 to hold their finals there, even in May, is questionable. Far more questionable than a place like Sun Valley. I imagine all ski areas are susceptible to rain after the season is over, however Snoqualmie, even WA, is definitely up there.

I'm sure they considered all this. Perhaps Snoqualmie is paying them? Or was more willing to work with them in terms of features? Either way I doubt it wasn't a well thought out decision.

Buster I was thinking the same thing. Especially with how wet this spring has been. The snow level come may is going to be super low. Hell it wasn't very deep to begin with.

It has to do with which mountain was willing to host/sponsor the event. Hell it couldve come down to Josh having a better connection with a marketing manager/park manager at one resort vs another, etc. Its not like l1p didn't consider all of their options, they chose snoqualmie for a reason, whatever that reason is, maybe stevens said no?

After the Orage Masters last year I doubt that Sun Valley is jumping up and down to host another event with a bunch of freeskiers.......

This.

Most mountains want nothing to do with stuff this late in the year unless someone is putting up the money for it. Even then, lots of places just want to pack up, go home, or finish out the last week or two of the season. Very limited options on late season stuff. ESPECIALLY with the weather over the past 3 years in the west.

Probably not, they never let anyone hit the think thank setups that are usually made every year, I cant imagine they would want people hitting the superunkown setup either.
However, I am stoked that it is being held at snoqualmie, it will be a sick park for sure

I'm gonna go with no. I'd be down to go trannyfind what's left afterwards though.
L1P aren't dumb, and Hornbeck was at Stevens this season, so they should know what's good. I have a feeling that someone else (probably PBP again) has a shoot already planned.

I'm interested in seeing what this park will look like. They didn't have a jump bigger than 25 ft open all season, and the rail setup wasn't very good either.
