Need some ski buying advice

Hey guys i could use your help with buying skis. Now over here on the east coast my seasons just about over and im already thinking about new gear for next season. Im looking for a ski with LOW swing weight, lots of flex for butters. And a lil rocker, im tied between the armada al dente and the nordica omw's if you guys have and advice then hit me up. Thanks

With your minimal information, I will automatically assume that you are 5'2", 180 lbs and explicitly rides groomers. I recommend the omw.

i am 5'4" 115lbs and 14 years of age i mostly ski carinthia so yes groomers not much pow this season i skied on line masterminds 147. I was thinking around 161 or 159 for my next size.

Do you really need somthing as wide as the al dente for the east? I would say get a nice light park ski. They will be ideal for the groomers and the park an will be ok if you ever get powder. Park skis will also be lighter with more pop and a lower swing weight. Maybe look at the atomic infamous that would be good for you.

yes i am really looking for a light park ski with low swing weight. But the reason i was looking at the el dente. Is because of the wide under foot for a surface swaps and for a little bit of pow that mount snow gets from time to time. And i here there very soft for butters.

The al dente is very flexible, i mean the word al dente means a noodle that is partially cooked so its bendy. How ever if you want a ski with a low swing weight you should go with a symmetrical ski. The al dente i dont think is quite as light as i think you might want either,considering your height and weight and the size of the al dente. However at your weight a ski that seems flexy to most people would be stiff to you. If you want a real flexible ski you will have to get a ski that is shorter than reccomended. I reccomend the traveling circus, I live in maine so i know the conditions over here as well as anyone and i know not only is it a great ski it is great on groomers and can handle the little powder we get over here. Another great ski is the halo 2 its flexible and it comes in a 164 so it would work well for you

ok man thanks for the advice. Ill go check that out, but in the end ill probably go with the omw. I see all the riders up at Carinthia on then and they kill it. They seem like there pretty flexy and i really like the top sheet and the graphics. Just saying, al dente pasta is actually pretty firm, unlike your average noodle.





Agreed with the rest of the post though.



I have the al dente's and they rock around the mountain. Probably a little worse at rails because of the thin edges, but they more than make up for it with all of their other qualities like the width and rocker for slush/pow, the flex for jibbing and the low swing weight for having fun and rotating.
I would say that there are better options for the east coast though. Good luck!

well i like the rocker alot for butters, but i think the with of the ski will make it heavy. Plus not alot of pow up wear i ski mostly fast skiing on groomers, and i dont want them chattering in the tip when im going fast.

Liberty antigen or Liberty LTE. Bamboo core so it's super light and easy to spin around on. Soft as can be and the antigen has early rise. Don't get al dente or filthy riches if your on the east coast. We have a lot of ice and skis with a lot of early rise won't perform very well. Consider looking at a softer lighter cambered ski like the LTE, future spin, afterbang, TC skis, punx, suspect etc.. or look into skis with slight amounts of rocker like the Antigen, surface blanks, K2 recoil, Jib Tom Wallisch, chronic etc… lots of early rise isn't the best on the east.

i cant talk about any of those skis accept for the TC's afterbang's and sights. All I can say is don't get the sights, they ski great but they're not flexy and not good for freestyle in my opinion. The TC's are a good ski from what I've heard i have two friends that have them and they both love them, the after bangs are an okay ski, i heard from a couple of friends that have them they're okay not as great for skiing around the mountain but good freestyle ski.
