Jeffrey 186 cm too much for someone at 5'10"?

I know this really depends on the skiers ability, and weight but I just don't want to be limited on them. Originally was going to go with 181cm but they are sold out and I'll go with the 186cm. The skis will end up being ~4" taller than me. It will be my everyday ski, skiing off-piste. I'm a lvl 3+ skier so it shouldn't affect me too much I just want an idea as to how much will this affect my maneuverability in the trees and such. I just don't want to feel like I'm hauling around logs on each foot. Thanks for the input

I rock the 186 BG and Im only 5'10''. You would deftly be able to notice the difference between the 181 and 186 but since I haven't ridden the Jeffrey cant be 100% how it feel.
You could call them at ON3P and ask them their thoughts on it.

What are your height and weight and what is your skiing style? Just guessing without this info... If you ski aggressively and like wide open pow fields and huck cliffs, 186s will be perfect. If you like to spend most of your time in trees and bumps, and/or are not a really aggressive skier, wait until you can get 181s. More accurate answer if you give height and weight.

I'm 5'8" and I have the 186s. They're a blast in everything, especially roughly a foot of fresh (even in the trees). You could go with the 181s if you're worried about them getting away from you, but if you are a 3+ skier and you're not a twig weight wise, you'll do just fine on the 186s. There's a ton of rocker on those things, so they do ski much shorter than a normal 186.

I'm 5'10" and ski the 186. I couldn't imagine riding the 181. These skis rip.

I'm 5'10" about 145 lbs. and this ski will be used for big mountain skiing.. I'm in the trees a lot and enjoy the bumps, that's what I'm most concerned about with this length. Ideally I will be skiing bigger lines and hacking stuff with them where there is a lil more room. I guess my question would be are the Jeffrey's pretty nimble? Do the rocker tips catch and initiate the skis turn easily? Like I said I just don't want to haul around some logs on my feet. Thanks

my 53 year old dad rides the 186 as an everyday ski and loves em, he's about 5'6" and 145lbs.

Yeah they're pretty nimble, I've only skied them a handful of times but they're quite a bit more nimble than my 191 wrens or 191 caylors (both of which are completely nimble enough for tight tree skiing).

What skis are you used to? If you're a "level 3" skier you will not only be completely comfortable on 186s but they'll help you become a better skier.

I'm 5'10" 185lbs, and I find them nimble. I use them as my everyday ski. Bumps, groomers, trees, bowls, cutes, cliffs, everything. You can make so many different turn shapes on these skis. Fun to mach chicken on, and also fun to carve super hard.

I haven't skied the Jeffreys so I can't comment on them specifically. Given the info you provided I'd go shorter than 186, if you're a really good and really aggressive skier you'll be able to handle them but they will likely feel too long in trees and bumps.

so i would say do not buy them for one reason. in working at a shop that sells ON3P skis i have to know every aspect of the skis. something i have learned in selling these skis is that they are actually measured 3- 4 cms shorter than they actually are. i demoed some caylors and jefferys in the 181 length and they felt pretty long for a full rockered 181 ski so when i measured them they both turned out to be 184 in length. i am 5 10 and the 181 turned out to be the perfect size for me as i like my skis pretty long and 184 is what i wanted. so unless you are an amazing all mountain skier who is 510 and loves riding a 190 ski i hold off until next year.

are you talking tip to tail length? I'm yet to measure my BG but I've seen others commenting that ON3P is dead on tip to tail straight tape pull... so I 181 would have a longer base length but should be 181 tip to tail.

Did they actually measure longer tip to tail? I'm thinking going 171 as an all mountain since my BG is 176 and I'm only 5'5" / 147, but I was afraid the 171 could be too short even for an all mountain ski, but the 176 might feel long since I want them to be quicker than both BG 176 and cochise 177.
