Spinning left vs spinning right science thread

Does anyone know why some people naturally spin right versus left?

I spin left, and slide rails left foot front. I do this because I skateboard with a regular stance and sliding left foot forward feels like I'm skating regular, but going right foot forward makes me feel like I'm riding switch. At least that's how I felt when I first started sliding stuff, left foot forward was more natural for me, so that's what I went with.

I wonder though. How many skiers who are in the majority (spin left, slide with right foot forward) snowboard in a regular stance. Cause I am part of the skiing majority with the right foot forward, but also bring that over to snowboarding and ride goofy, which is the minority.

Why does the majority in skiing = minority in snowboarding?

damn thats eye opening, so basically most skiers and snowboarders are sorted at birth by goofy vs regular

I spin left for 180s but right for 360s and anything more than a 180 but for corks and mistys and anything off axis i throw to the left and then I grind right foot forward ...ya I'm fucked up apparently

I'm much more comfortable spinning right when I'm just walking around, but I always spin left when I'm skiing. Don't know why.

I spin right but slide right foot forward. I am a lefthander and leftfooter (soccer and shit) so my body is all focused on left, but for some reasons I switched from going left foot forward to right foot forward on rails and I am having hard times now doing unnaturals on rails. I think it's just my brain being a bitch.

zbphotoI spin right normally but for some reason I spin left on switch hits...

that is probably because you are more comfortable looking over your right shoulder when going switch

I spin naturally to my left, which means that when doing rails i'm more comfortable with my right foot forward. My right is my dominant leg but when spinning switch i spin to the right.

This thread is beautiful. I'm a little confused with my sliding. I spin to the right naturally and slide left foot forward. But last season on a little corry rail I was doing switch butters onto it and buttering left and sliding right foot forward and it felt sort of natural, took a couple of falls but when i buttered to the right and slide left foot forward it felt so weird.

Is this because butters onto rails are easy and 180's really don't need preferences?

Is there a correlation for how people ride skateboards? I'm goofy and spin right and slide left foot forward. I feel like it that all makes sense.

I spin right and my right foot first on the rail. I am pretty sure its because I start skateboarding first and I am regular so when I was doing a board slide my body was turning left to go on the rail. So I think I bring that on the slope.

My friend spins left on a cork or normal spin but he does lincolns flats and rodeos the opposite direction. Does anyone else do this?

I'm left foot foward (snowboard). but spinning seems to change with my mood. I generaly spin left though

Yeah I spin right, but cork, lincoln, rodeo and flat left.
