DingoSeanNikon does not have any DSLR's with 1080p60.
pussyfooterI just called canon and they said new announcement next week!
Jeff_Lo1DX should have it as well?
Rumor right before NAB the 1DX and 1DC would be getting some love... 1DC 1080 60 is pretty soft, but is better than nothing and works in most cases. Just gotta sharpen a bit in post. 4K out of the camera is pretty stunning though!
pussyfooterI made that up... basically this dude is expecting us to have some sort of connect to canon so we know all their secrets.
lIllIThey should probably work on achieving 1080p24 first.
DingoSeanWhat? Pretty sure every Canon DSLR has that...
pussyfooterUpscale 720p... Canon as yet to achieve true 1080p resolution
pussyfooterUpscale 720p... Canon as yet to achieve true 1080p resolution
ForcilloSo if this is true, is the difference between 720/60 and 1080/30 actually next to nothing? It seems like that whole debate about which setting to shoot at could be resolved if everybody knew this
lIllIDo we even have a clear-cut metric to define "true 1080p"? I mean, the camera is using A/D converters to transform an analog signal into any variant of a digital one. Canon uses terrible conversion/compression/scaling methods in their DSLRs which makes their video IQ look like rainbow moiré puke, while Panasonic uses a more intelligent design that renders substantially more resolution and tighter, monochromatic noise. Industry standard Sony cams, last I checked, don't shoot "native" 1080p but instead shoot around 900 lines of resolution that the conversion process actually works with. Panasonic is the same way. Canon fetches closer to 650.
Do we have any scientists in the room? This is exactly why I don't trust camera specs - because at the end of the day they give you a ballpark at best.

pussyfooterI thought the newest sony cams, like the fs100/700 and the pani gh3/gh4 were closer to 1000 lines? I thought I read that. Same with canon, I thought they were closer to 700-800 lines.
True 1080p though, I dunno. Do we have true 4k?
720p30 vs 1080p30 would be a better comparison and one shot will appear larger on your screen, but the 1080 wont look any better full screen and/or online and will basically be a 720p image upscaled to 1080p..
720p60 obviously has its differences, being at 59.94fps.
This is why 1080p60 on a current canon dslr would be pointless.
ForcilloI was talking about for skiing, how people argue whether to sacrifice resolution for a higher framerate and vice versa. I should have been more specific that it was for skiing.

pussyfooterI mean, you should always shoot action at 60p
lIllIWhy do you keep saying this? I shot a bunch of ski stuff in 60p last year and I regret it.
pussyfooterI still shoot everything at 60, come at me bro.
lIllIOnce a newb, always a newb.
pussyfooteri dunno, Im the one who makes more skiing edits ;-) i think you're the n3wb

lIllIEveryone knows sports videos are a niche (newb) market.
Besides, last I checked I've made over 300 videos. 20-something of which I've bothered to put online.
Why can't you just be like me and think you're too cool to try anything thereby living a life of sad mediocrity?
theabortionatorI new nikon only rocked the 720p
nutz. That's just not trueFrom everything I read they listed 1080p 60 fps places but it's actually i. Maybe That wasn't right idk.
theabortionatorSo thanks to being in NZ and realizing I'm going to get fucked by taxes if I if I finalize my order from b+h so maybe rethinking shit.
Was going to buy the canon 70d. I want something that works good for shooting video but all takes good photos.
I'm a noob with new technology in general. I new nikon only rocked the 720p but hearing this discussion about 30p vs. 60. interests me.
yunghopperI still think the 7D Mark II will finally bring 1080p at 60fps to Canons DSLR range. Most companys nowadays offer a camera in that format which does use it. I know that I'll probably end up with a GH3 at some point in the future
pussyfooterSorry to burst your bubble, but it wont.
SourSteezleI'd be willing to bet money that it does. Is there a reason why you think it's not going to have 1080 at 60fps? I don't know for sure, but i'd be super surprised if this release didn't bring something new for video
pussyfooterespecially seeing how well the 7d mk1 performs STILL as a photo camera
pussyfooterI thinkthis because canon has 1080p60 already in a more expensive camera. Granted, it might not matter much in the long run, because people buying a 1dc (is that the one with 1080p60? or is the c300? i dunno) arent buying it for the 1080p60.
But, does canon care? Its interesting to think about, especially seeing how well the 7d mk1 performs STILL as a photo camera, don't you think they'd focus on having the best ef-s camera for photos possible? Especially with such a high bar set for HDDSLRS/other HD video cameras like the gh4, a7s etc?
I dunno, I'd be surprised if canon had 1080p60 in any camera under $4000.
SourSteezleCanon's falling way behind in the DSLR market and they're going to lose a lot of customers.
lIllIterribly?
Walter.1337This, the 7D is a garbage photo camera.
SourSteezleCan you explain this? Image quality is still the same, so is it just the features that doesn't make it the best photo camera? The 7d is a lot like the 5d mk ii, and in my opinion they produce just as good of image as any of the new dslrs
DingoSeanNikon D5300 does 1080p60Is that legit? They all say that but is it actually p or i?
theabortionatorIs that legit? They all say that but is it actually p or i?
SamColby60fps is for fuck bois and soap dramas.... unless youre tryna twixtor that shit
