There has been a lot of tragedy on Everest over the years, but apparently this is single deadliest accident in history. I can't imagine climbing Everest at the best of times, but I imagine spring is a pretty sketchy time to be doing it. It sounds like there were around 50 climbers who who got hit by the avalanche and most were Sherpas.
