tomPietrowskiCould be a few things. We use toe caps when molding intuition liners. Its a foam cap that goes over the toes to push the heel back and give a better mold.

BaltoIf you need to use a toe cap to push your heal back you need to learn to put on a ski boot, they are for increasing volume in the toe box when molding, and not specific to intuitions
tomPietrowskiI was waiting for you guys to say I was wrong but think about it. Only intutions have heat mold foam round the toes. So yes on intuitionms you will create soime more toe room, but having the extra volume at the toes makes your foot longer. This in tern pushes your heel back further. OIt is actually this which creates the toe room. In most liners you can toe cap to create toe room even though there is no heat mold foam in the toes. It all actually comes from the back of the liner.
Weird concept top get I know, but yeah often you will use toe caps to create space in a more indirect manner.
BaltoThe amount that thin pliable neoprene would be able to push your heal back in a properly fitting boot would be next to nothing, again you need to learn to pout on a ski boot if you think you are actually being aided in setting your heal with the use of a toe cap.
onenerdykidWhile toe caps definitely have a few uses, Tom is definitely right in saying that toe caps push the foot back into the heel pocket of a warm, soft Intuition/Palau liner. Toe caps are also used when making a foam injection liner for this very purpose; they do not create any space in the toe on their own (in a foam liner), but they force the foot back into the heel pocket during the foaming process.
