Why do people only ever call it the Holocaust?
Holocaust= Great sacrifice in Greek
It's like they wanted to do it if you even say that. There's a reason it's called the Shoah. A great tragedy/travesty. An upwards of 6 million jews and up to a total of 7-9 million other human beings were murdered. That's not sacrifice, it's an industrial slaughter. Things like this should be closely watched, we only have to look back 18-25 years to see the 3 million killed in Armenia by the Turkish, the 1-2 million Kurds gassed, the muslims/others systematically killed in the former Yugoslavia, to see that the Shoah has been repeated. We even look over the estimated 50 million wiped off the planet in the Gulags in the former USSR. Why do we, as humans, keep looking away?
I have no idea. I think in my lifetime though, we may see the genocide of a group of people once again. Uganda and Russia with homosexuals, possibly here with the jews, christians in the middle East, I don't honestly know or want any of the like to happen.
I do believe though something may change the world as we know it in Ukraine/Russia soon. The cover ups with the missing flight over stories from a possible coming war in Europe is adamant that the media have been told to keep quiet or the governments are falling into a state of blackout. I'm not a tinfoil man, I'm just wondering and maybe believing. It's crazy what's happening and we never learn from our mistakes. Even in the 1400s the Crusades killed something like 4 million.
Figures for the victims of the Shoah if anyone is interested or disbileavant:
