This is a pretty bad development if the group holds any power in the separatist political spectrum. Hopefully they don't and this movement gets squashed, but from the sounds of it this is highly unlikely.

"No Holocaust 2.0 just yet."

Really? Holocaust 2.0? "Just yet"? The writer of that article is trying to make a snarky remark about jews being required to register just like in 1942 and make light of what is a very scary situation to a lot of people...

I always thought that because of the immediacy of information something like the holocaust could not happen again (with concentration camps and all that). But with the ignorance I've seen since this news broke, I'm not so sure about that anymore.

i think its easy to understand in general. the magnitude might be surprising, but these things tend to snowball pretty quick.

1) they spreaded out to a lot of countries.

2) they usually were extreme minorities, like a few percent of the population at most.

3) they have a differing religion with "weird" myths and rituals and stuff.

so basically, jews were always available whenever you needed a scapegoat, they never held significant political power and you could always dehumanize them as non-believers/pagans or whatever.

Cause they constantly pissed people off throughout history. For instance a short and dirty reason for them being kicked out of England is since they were money lenders for the most part and ended up being too greedy about it so everyone hated them then the easy way to make the problem go away was to kill them and kick them out (a lot more to it than that, but it gives the gist).

not at all. i just hate science misused for politics. "scientists" who think that they have to bring in personal values into their research and look until they find a statistically significant relationship.

Even if this was real, you're extremely ignorant on the situation at hand here... You don't know the history between Russia and Ukraine, and you CERTAINLY don't know the history of Russia under Soviet rule (ummm remember who was in Afghanistan during the 1980's? Oh, don't forget how countless middle eastern/central asian Islamic countries were directly part of the soviet union, and more/less taken over forcibly at that-The USA didn't even go that far...)

All in all, Russia/Former USSR is absolutely no better than the USA when it comes to foreign policy. Even worse if you want to talk about domestic policy (yeah, I'd say Stalin's Gulags are at least slightly worse than anything we ever saw here)

To be fair, when the news first broke there wasn't much research to be done. Not many articles or reporters who had gone after the story to see its validity. When it first broke it was thought that militants who occupied the government put out a flier to Jews to register. So I guess that deems something not real because it wasn't handed down by a well established governing. To me that is still a real thing.

And people did question this. That's why a lot of people who were actually concerned with the story said "I hope this isn't real."
