BOSTON - Two brothers who each lost a leg in the Boston Marathon bombings are talking about Tuesday's bomb scare at the finish line, just minutes after they had crossed it.

Paul and JP Norden had just finished a relay walk along the entire marathon route, from Hopkinton to Boston.

They were feet away from the backpack that caused the scare.

"We were walking into the hotel and about to turn right into the bag. That really threw us for a loop. Especially me," says Paul Norden.

A triumphant day for the Norden brothers was nearly destroyed.

They went from cheers and hugs with friends, family and supporters to evacuating Boylston street.

"They told me to move back so that scared me for a minute. It was just sad it ruined the end of a good day," says Paul. Norden.

"If something had happened or anyone got hurt, that would ruin our day but he couldn't ruin our day. That kid tried to ruin our day but it wasn't possible for him to do that," JP Norden says of the suspect arrested in the hoax.

The Nordens spoke with NewsCenter 5 during a signing Wednesday night for their new book "Twice as Strong."

They say the bomb hoax, just minutes after one their biggest accomplishments since they each lost a leg, will not break their spirit.

But it is a factor in why they won't be attending the Boston Marathon come Monday.

"We are just going to hang out with friends and family who've been there with us through the last year, we are just going to laugh and talk about the good times," says JP Norden.

"All in all, we are always positive. Look at all the support we get. How can't you be? It's just wonderful," Paul Norden said.

Even though the brothers won't be attending Monday, they don't want that to stop other people from attending the Marathon.

In fact, they hope hundreds of thousands are out there cheering the runners on and having a great Patriots Day.
