Just listened to some Sum 41 for no reason and remembered how much better that movement was than EDM.


Just through on some yellowcard(Don't that's my jam) and might even wonder back to some NFG to finish off the night.


Anybody else miss pop punk bands?

Honestly one of the reasons I really enjoy pop punk is because musically it is super simple however unlike so many bands right now that act like they're the absolute shit while pumping out really mediocre music pop punk bands made it clear that what they were doing was not something to take seriously and simply something to have fun to. I wished more bands now days gave as little fucks as bands like Blink 182.

As far as yellowcard I think the stuff they did early on was the best but I def went through an ocean avenue period as I at that age when that album came out. I remember I hadn't heard it in years and was partying out in the woods playing beer pong and some chick put the album on. I couldn't believe that I knew every word to those songs still. Pretty geigh but I slaughter errbody for the rest of the night. As soon as them jams started bumpin I was hot shit.

El_Barto.Sum 41 was and still is one of my favorite bands. Its perfect skiing music for me


I Summed a 41 once. The Offspring of that effort provided me with a New Found Glory. Eventually though, what started as a Simple Plan led to a Rancid disaster and spawned a generation of All-American Rejects.

It was just so far from what they started as. It was a political shitshow and not catchy or anything like 1039 smoothed out slappy hours or dookie or kerplunk. Or even parts of nimrod. It just sucked.

Happens with a lot of bands as they age though. It's a sad thing.

Idk. I grew up listening to their earlier stuff. American idiot was a whole different thing. To me personally it meant that green day was dead.

I mean anyone can listen to anything, I'm just saying how I felt. I think having that be the first album you had makes a big difference than listening to a group for a while, being a big fan, and then having the band make a dramatic change.

I was literally in love with yellowcard. I have everyone of their albums, even back to when they were a tampa area punk rock band and ryan keys wasnt even part of it. But Ocean Avenue remains one of my favorite throwback albums to listen to.

i saw the menzingers headline bowery ballroom in november. it was great

also for anyone saying against me, in my eyes their best albums (and only good ones) are reinventing axl rose and as the eternal cowboy, both of which arent very poppy. they did their best work before they really took a poppy root imo

Oh my god I love this thread.

Fuck I even had a pop-punk band (when I was 14). We covered nothing but fat lip and in too deep for hours on end, never getting bored. We were shit, but no-one cared... But that was why we loved it, I look at what it was like to play as a band six years ago compared to the self-obsessed lives of the edm 'producers' that are stealing my oxygen now, I want a fucking tardis

pop punk has always been like a guilty pleasure of mine. got into it when it was cool back in 8th grade, listened to man overboard, wonder years, four year strong, loss for words, fall out boy, blink 182 all that stuff back in the day.. saw my friends brother's blink cover band a bunch of times, they always killed it. still listen to pop punk every once in a while, doesnt get old

All Killer No Filler, Dude Ranch, and Nimrod are some of the first albums I ever got waaaay back in the day. Just rediscovered them not too long ago and I have been loving them again ever since. Gonna listen to 'em tonight.
