Just listened to some Sum 41 for no reason and remembered how much better that movement was than EDM.


Just through on some yellowcard(Don't that's my jam) and might even wonder back to some NFG to finish off the night.


Anybody else miss pop punk bands?

It was on the fringe of that weird emo scene to some extent but there was some decent music. Some of it deserved to be forgotten other than any random nostalgia but some of it was actually decent.

I can't even remember what songs were good by who so I'm digging for better or worse.

The new scene is totally worth checking out. They're was some odd stuff going in the the earlier 2000's.

I remember when stuff like this was in ski movies and playing in shops.





^ Whole album was so good. I used to have speakers for my cd player and go between this and ratm battle of los angeles when I was hittin spots on my bmx.

Now people wouldn't be able to appreciate the fact that you couldn't ride with it in your pocket cause it was bulky and that shit would skip if it was a CD.

I had this Phillips CD player that let me save songs straight to it. I felt like the coolest kid ever. I only saved FOB and JEW to it. Man I miss that thing.

Greenday isn't dead to me because to me greenday hasn't existed for the last 10 years. I watched a bio on them late one night couldn't sleep. This assclown talked about how American idiot was their best work and defined a band who wasn't going anywhere etc. I don't know if I've ever hated anyone so much.

Holding it in your hand so they wouldn't skip on the bus. I put a cd player in my car last year and started buying cds again/ found some of my old stash. Guilty pleasures from over a decade ago are a must for any solo road trip.

Green Day's album "dookie" was my first cd and it's still great to listen too. I randomly started singing that song yesterday, "I still pick my friends over you" for absolutely no reason and was wondering how I can still remember all the words. So I would have to agree with OP. Except I don't mind EDM but hardly listen to it.

I remember the days of people listening to punk and everyone labeled everyone a poser haha

Blink182 is still great too.

Pop punk was all I listened to in middle school/high school haha. I was actually just talking to my friend the other day about how we searched for hours trying to find leaks of the tracks from Take Off Your Pants and Jacket in seventh grade before it was released, and we weren't allowed to bring electronics on our class trip but we smuggled CD players, speakers, and burned CDs wrapped in clothes anyway just so we could listen to the shitty versions we got off of Kazaa and Bearshare in the hotel room. I can't remember the last time I was that excited for a new album to come out. Good shit.

i really like punk, not so much a fan of pop punk. but i cant stand those awful emo core bands ie: pierce the veil, all time low. ill stick with good 80s/90s punk rock.

Word. I don't think older ATL is really too emo core. They were pretty punky when they first started out (ie the party scene, running with lions, girls a straight up hustler etc). I don't really like their newer stuff though, and they seem to be attracting 14 year old fat scene girls as their audience which is odd since when they first got popular (2005) I was in high school and was one of the younger people at the tiny show they played.

I've been really digging the Hot Water Music/Against Me/Alkaline trio music I've been finding.

I tend to gravitate towards punk and rock when it comes to music.

Though if you guys know who Chuck Ragan is, his solo projects have been really, really good.
