Adobe illustrator help

what do you mean mang? just copy the image in.

it's sort of a tricky program. just google some tutorials too.

what exactly do you wanna do with those designs? Illustrator is used mostly for vector illustrations (I only use images from google to trace the shape of something in vectors), if you wanna take some images from google and use them as a background/play with the colors/add some effects, maybe Photoshop is more what you search for.

As was said above I use Illustrator for making logos or completely new designs, not editing photos. The best way to incorporate Google images is to search for vector files or create a vector by first dragging the image onto the canvas and then going to object > image trace > make and expand. This allows you to grab each individual part of the image and manipulate. Note: Some images will not be able to be traced, or rather will lose all the quality, while some will trace perfectly. Tip: look for black and white images with very defined lines. All in all Illustrator is a very powerful program and needed for screen printing, etc.

.jpgs can only be 'placed' into illustrator as its a vector program - file,place - you can live trace them which will turn it into a vector where you can specify the amount of colors for it to produce from your image

thanks I just started my first real semester as a graphic design student and am slowly learning the basics.

when I tried this in illustrator in January I thought it would be an illustration program like corel painter or something. I tried drawing with the pen tool for like 30 mins and was like fuck this.

Well the pen tool is easily one of the most important tools throughout the Adobe suite, I highly recommend looking up tutorials on mastering that. As far as just a click down and drag drawing type of tool you can use the blob brush or the pencil tool. What were you asking in your first post though because I honestly don't understand it at all. Hopefully you can understand that Illustrator is much greater than Corel painter in so many aspects and it is worth the minor headache it will be to learn it.
