OS X Maverick

So as many of you may have heard, OS X Maverick is the new update for Apple computers and I just wanted to share my opinion on the new software and would like to hear some other opinions as well.

Let me start off by saying it is absolute shit. I have a 2012 Macbook Pro and everything that I enjoyed about having a mac over a pc was taken away. For example, I had been so used to using the original mouse pad "strokes" ex: the two finger swipe/scroll and what not. That of course had been changed around.

The update also added ibooks and maps. I can understand how some people may want the ibooks app but I do not see the point in having maps. It's not like someone is going to take their laptop in their car and use it as a gps device. Idk maybe somebody will it just doesn't make any sense to me.

Personally I am getting real fed up with this Facebook machine.

Thoughts?

Also the installation took over an hour and a half. Still can't believe I waited for that crap.

You don't have to use ibooks or maps if you don't want to. didn't even know they existed until you brought it up. You can change around the scroll patterns to several other options in preferences.

Overall, I think it's faster and increased my battery life and I really like the new expose/spaces upgrade.

There are probably other legitimate reasons to dislike it (for instance, the Library folder that houses lots of behind the scenes stuff is now hidden, though easily findable), but your argument is unfounded. Plus, it came out months ago. Adobe CS works fantastically on both pc and mac; but for me and many others, the OS X interface works that much better for such purposes and Mavericks is no difference. certainly not just a facebook machine.

The reason I got a macbook, other than my pc was getting outdated, was to use programs like photoshop and final cut pro and I agree with you 100% that macs aren't just Facebook machines. I've just gotten a bit fed up with all the unnecessary add ons to the update.

As for the battery life, mine hasn't changed a bit.

Yes but it used to be on the macs that if you swiped to the left you would go back to your previous page and swiping right with two fingers you would return to the page you were just on. Now they're switched.

It's just the little things like that, that piss me off

system preferences -> trackpad -> scroll and zoom -> uncheck "scroll direction: natural"

not very "natural" if you ask me

most annoying thing is how the dock is grey when on the left. I put my dock in the top left corner of the screen to make it more like like unity, but the contrast on some of my icons is horrible.
