Cigarettes

Cigs and I have a sort of love hate relationship. I would not consider myself addicted to nicotine, however I do quite enjoy a fag or two from time to time. I really do hate the fact that they are so unhealthy, but there is something beautiful about their calming effect on one's self. When I've had a rough day or I am stressed out, I cruise outside and admire the beauty of wherever I am while taking long drags and soothing my mind.
Cigarettes are a necessity for me to achieve peace of mind, but they sure do help.
I'd like to start a general discussion on cigarettes, post your cigarette of choice, your opinion on smoking, reasons why you do or don't smoke etc.


My brand of choice is American Spirit, pic related. I don't like to support the huge corporations who put additives in their product, and use immoral business practices to get their way, which is why I only buy American Spirits.

Have you ever heard of weed? If you like smoking shit,chilling outside with nature and not poisoning yourself I would highly recommend it.

I agree with this, I smoke weed multiple times a day...it must be a phase i'm going through or something because I still seem to gravitate towards cigarettes occasionally, I can't remember the last time i smoked more than 2-3 a day, I usually get home from school and smoke a cig before getting high and doing homework...that is unless I'm drunk then I ascend to my chimney state of being.

I see your point, and it's duly noted, just a the rest of these " eww gross cigarettes kill peeplzzzz" posts. for the mean time, I'll smoke one or two a day because it's enjoyable and no fucks are given to be quite cliche.

I dont personally like smoking, but its funny how many Americans are against it. I dont know anybody who doesnt smoke out of all my European friends. Trust me, people here in Switzerland start smoking after turning 14 and that's considered normal.

I feel the same way as you OP, I love the yellow spirits. I recently read an interesting fact though that american spirits have wayyyyy more nicotine in them than any other cigarettes, which is still better than having a bunch of additives, but its definetely something to think about.

its not funny why most Americans are against it. My girlfriend's dad had Esophageal cancer. Got radiation and was sick as shit for weeks. T Cancer came back. Now he needs to get his voice box removed. Not so funny. He's in his 50's. Oh I guess that is pretty cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EVERYONE smokes in germany so it was really easy to get into. got super drunk one night and had one for the first time, and here i am 3 years later and find myself not able to quit. tried a few times but its too damn hard for me.... and my choice of brand is marb golds.

When someone crosses the line into addiction, what others see is denial. One study reported that an astounding 94% of those classified drug- or alcohol-dependent denied they needed treatment.

This thread sucks, there are much healthier alternative outlets you can do to relieve stress, go to the gym stretch meditate. You fell into peer pressure when you were young because you weren't cool, and now you're justifying it.

I started smoking my senior year of high school when I lived in Austria (I had smoked random black and milds before #highschool). Everyone does it there, they even had cigarette vending machines! Anyways for the following 2-3 years after that I was smoking pretty regularly. It started with just smoking when I drank then about a year later (my sophomore year of college) I was smoking all the time. I quit November 2012 and as of now haven't had a cigarette since. It's actually kind of weird how I ended up quitting. I got really bad bronchitis so I couldn't smoke (for about 2 weeks) and when I tried to smoke it just made me feel like shit. Then it all just phased out. Haven't touched the shit since. That being said my cig of choice was Camel Turkish Silver and I don't plan on picking up smoking ever again. ALTHOUGH I do miss the social part of it. I love being out on the porch/patio at parties and I just feel sort of awkward outside because that's where everyone goes to smoke, but whatever.

tldr: Started smoking in Europe, smoked for 3 years, quit over a year ago. WOO

similar story to me. I smoked for about 6-7 years and quit when I got a good scare at the doctor. The dr told me that I had early stages of emphysema (age 21). Whether that was true of not I don't know, but it scared me enough to quit. I took Chantix. Only needed to be on it for 3 days, by then, I got so fucking sick when I tried smoking a cig. All the negative side effects were accurate and it was a horrible few days. But, it worked.




On another note, I was just listening to Fitzdog Radio with Bob Saget as the guest. Bob Saget's pops smoked 6 packs a day! That is fucking nuts. Greg Fitzsimmons pops smoked 3-4 packs a day. Almost unbelievable. They both died suddenly in their 50s of course.

I've been smoking fairly heavily for almost 3 years now. By far one of the biggest regrets of my life. It's retardedly expensive, and really you don't get much out of it. Yes i still enjoy it but my personal advice would be this: If you don't smoke, don't start, if you smoke but you think you can quit, do it.

However my favourite brands would be Camel and Benson & Hedges.

I'm not sure if this is a troll thread or not.

If you can stop smoking now, do it. Pretty soon one or two a day turns into four or five, and then eight or ten, and you can't stop. Quitting sucks, but staying quit is harder. Quit while you can.

lucky enough to not have an addictive personality. but i have had quite a few cigarettes in my little time. it comes from the military. everyone seems to smoke. I usually only smoke when deployed but even then its so easy for me to just stop. I've only ever done it because of it being a social thing/ or soothing. Nerves are a bit frazzled...sit down smoke and get back at it.

I snag a couple puffs when drunk and out with friends. Even a whole cig to myself when drunk is disgusting. Never would think to touch one sober.

Also 2 of my 3 roommates smoke. They literally have no clue they are in denial. Those ads come on and me and another roommaye tell them thats gonna be them in 20 years. "It can't/won't happen to me" seems to be the biggest excuse. That or " yeah ill get around to quiting". They tried and lasted like 3 days. Just dont get the allure...

wherever you read that is a false source because american spirits are just super light across the board, smoke camel wides if you want a good nicotine content
