hey NS, I'm an east coaster and I was wondering if mammoth is still nice. I know it's probly slushy but are the parks still around? just looking for some feedback on how mammoth is: the top, the bottom, parks, whatever. thanks
Good man. Fuck yeah the parks are huge. The biggest in the country I bet. Timberline might have something bigger for west coast sessions or whatever, but mammoth is the spot for spring park skiing. In main park atleast 4 big doubable jumps, and probably 12 jibs in main park. Another 3 jumps and 15 jibs in forest trail park.
Yeah south is open, there are quite a few jibs still around in south, along with 2 nice 20ish footers. The top of main is super jibby, and the3 jumps at the bottom (45', 50', 55' or so) are really fun if you can figure out the speed.
They're currently re-making the park for mammoth superpark which is soon, after that we'll see what happens.
To answer your question: yes, mammoth still has parks and they are fun
I just got back from mammoth today. Main park is really sick right not, three solid jumps (two i would say are dubable) and around 10 really fun rail features. They were also building a big hip while i was there. South park is not doing so hot with two small jumps, maybe 15 feet. Also a couple jibs remain in south. The slush is fun but can cause some speed issues on the jumps late in the day. Definitely a super fun time to be in mammoth though. I had three days of 60+ degree weather in a really smooth park!
