Roadtrip Advice. WA to CO

What's up everyone?

At the end of May a friend of mine will be flying up to Washington and driving back home to Colorado with me.
I'm looking for recommendations on routes and places to stop along the way and all that good stuff. We're looking to take our time, so detours are okay.

The three major routes I'm considering are:
1)I-90 straight over to all the way to Bozeman (my brother lives in Bozeman) then down through Wyoming back to Boulder. This is the way I drove out here in the fall.
2) Go down to Portland, then up the Gorge, eventually meeting up with I-90, then the same way as option 1.
3)Go through Oregon to Idaho to Utah to CO

So yea, if you have any advice, throw it my way.

Go through PDX, ski at Hood. Problem solved.

Go to Portland, ski Mount Hood, then go through Utah to Colorado.

never done two, 1 and 3 both kinda suck but they're your only other options. do 2 for the sake of originality.

With a few scenic exceptions along the way, I90 East out of WA sucks.

I'll be making another drive from WA back home to MN this summer. I90 all the way. I've done the drive so many times now, it's gotten pretty boring.

I was going to pick up a hood spring pass, but that money might have to go to gas.

Do this then go south to San Francisco then drive through Tahoe to cheyenne and go south to boulder from there.

Do this, you can drive down along the coast and get to SF and Tahoe's only about 3 hours out from there. It's a pretty rad place actually. Let me know if you do end up coming through!

I'm kinda the exact opposite of you, I left Seattle to come to boulder. Last fall I went option 3, down through eastern wa to slc, to Moab and then i70 from there. Definitely a really cool drive and a detour to Moab/arches etc is really east to do. Pm me if you have any questions

bring your skis to CO, because ski resorts will still be open.

This. 101 might be the most scenic road in the country.
