PCMR will dismantle lifts if they lose lawsuit

While this isn't a factor of the lawsuit, if PCMR loses this they are threatening to remove all lifts from the mountain.

technically at the end of each year they do take off all the chairlifts on the cables...the lawsuit would obviously mean to get rid of the lift entirely.

not really, i mean i do hate vail resorts, so for all i care pcmr could test nuclear devices there if they lost.

i think it would be a loss to the ski community if pcmr lost as well, due to the fact that 50% of pros ride there and enjoy it. they have great park features and some decent alpine skiing

all in all fuck vail resorts if they actually win the suit because pcmr is a great place to be, so i hope if vail does win, PC will make it a pain in the ass.

Hopefully they renew the lease, but I think Vail is serious about attempting to take it over. Just look at what they've been doing the last few years.

God I hope so. It sounds like kindergartners in a play ground. To be honest I am holding out buying my PCMR pass until something pans out because I am not going to deal with having Vail own them in the rare chance they do win.

This whole Vail trying to evict PCMR is a shit show and Vail is really looking like a bunch of greedy assholes, but I really don't think Vail gets credit where it is due on this site. Have you seen the fucking prices on the top end Epic Pass? $730 for "Unlimited access to Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Canyons, Heavenly, Northstar, Kirkwood, Afton Alps, Mt. Brighton, and Arapahoe Basin - No Blackout Dates. *NEW* Now Includes 5 consecutive days at Niseko United in Japan and up to 5 consecutive days at Verbier in Switzerland and 3 Vallees in France when staying in resort lodging"
It is the same price or more for just PCMR right now. I would totally be cool with Vail gaining Park City if they did it with some respect.

So you get to ski at multiple areas. So what? It's not like someone is going to ski in California, Nevada, Colorado, Minnesota, Michigan, and Utah all in the same year. Someone will buy the pass and use it for the one or several places in their state. Instead you could get a pass at a good ski area like Snowbird or Squaw.

Says the one who didn't read the article. Vail claims that, but PCMR disagrees. Lifts are not considered affixed or whatever the criteria is. PCMR can do whatever it wants with them.

1) Everyone seems to forget that this whole lawsuit is PCMR's fault. They're the idiots that forgot renew a 50 year lease, and Vail is doing what any good business would do, which is take advantage of your compeditor's mistakes.

2) People are acting like Vail Resorts (especially Breck, Keystone, Northstar) or SO different than PCMR. Everyone one of those mountains are below average terrain with outstanding parks. They cater to the exact same crowd. Does anyone actually think that PCMR would drastically change just because Vail Resorts ran it? Hell, if you were an employee, you should be stoked, Vail does a pretty damn good job at taking care of their employees. Plus, the Epic Pass is still one of the best value passes in the entire industry. Maybe some of you don't travel between the resorts, but there's a whole lot of people that travel between CO, UT, and Tahoe.

ian cumming/powdr corp bought dick bass' house at the bird several years ago. powdr corp is looking to buy snowbird, along with other parties. with this lift stunt/threat at pcmr i am not sure i want this to happen!!!

Talisker owns the land PCMR leases. Talisker also owns The Canyons aka Park West, which pretty much touches PCMR to the north. Vail leases The Canyons. Vail wants PCMR, and Talisker wants Vail. Talisker is essentially trying to kick out PCMR so Vail can merge the two, making the largest ski hill/golf course in the country.

canyons is fun place to ski but from what ive heard, the vail takeover isnt too pleasing. their already redic food prices went up and shit, just overall more expensive to ski there now. im against vail takeovers and it will be a damn shame if they take over PCMR. that place is great.

... I managed California, Nevada, Colorado, Utah, France, Switzerland this season all on the Epic Pass. $650 or whatever it was for all that is an absolute steal... If you have the time to use it!

I won't have bothered coming over to ski the US if the Epic Pass wasn't such a good deal. However I don't like the way Vail is swallowing up all these smaller resorts... it is a real shame. I visited Kirkwood, that place is sick, but I can see Vail ruining Kirkwoods vibe. I really hope they don't. Vail mountain is so devoid of culture to me, it would be sad to see Kirkwood or any of these other resorts fall down that heinous pit of fur shops, pretentious art galleries and heated side walks. I don't give a shit about any of that... I just want to ski!

This is pretty misinformed... for each of their areas I'm pretty sure you can buy a local pass. I can get a student pass for Northstar, Heavenly, and Kirkwood for under 400 bucks which is a pretty damn sweet deal still considering they charge like 100 bucks for a day ticket.

Yeah vail's a big corporation and all, but you have to hand it to them for keeping prices down for the locals and having the tourists pick up the slack.

PCMR was paying $155K annually to lease 85% of their ski resort. PCMR failed to renew the lease by the specific date. Talisker (who owns the land PCMR was leasing) signed Vail Resorts on as the new tenant to 85% of PCMR's land.

PCMR is throwing a hissy fit because they dropped the ball.

On another note, if PCMR isn't bluffing, and loses the lawsuit, I would imagine the towers and lifts can legally be removed (trade fixture that PCMR paid for). It would be like a barber leasing his shop, gettign evicted, and taking his barber chair which is bolted to the shop floor with him. it's within PCMR's right.

What would make more sense, is just to count their losses, and include the chairlifts in the sale of the land.

You really think if Vail purchases/leases/manages PCMR you will see a difference. Canyons didn't have any different "feel" to it. Most of Vail's resorts all have their own personality and uniqueness. Have you ever skied Kirkwood? It's world's different from Heavenly, let alone Beaver Creek.

Vail purchasing PCMR wouldn't take the ski town of out Park City. In reality, once the dust settles from the purchase, very few people will notice a difference. I'm sure there will be a bit of a shake up regarding higher management at PCMR, but other than that, the town of Park City will continue to be awesome

Vail has owned Kirkwood for two and a half seasons now. Kirkwood is still raw as fuck. It will never be a high end ski area, unless you count high end as in top tier terrain. I'm not sure how else to word it, but, it caters to "hardcore" skiers/boarders. I've actually met several people that say they didn't like kirkwood because it was too gnarly for their ability. The people that are going to expect heated sidewalks, coffee shops, and fur stores are not the same people that will want to ride the wood. It's also about 45 minutes from South Lake, which is a little too far away from the casinos, hot tubs, and north face stores that the tourists want anyway.

Basically on older detach lifts every single computer board was built specifically for the manufactures lift. Once the motherboard goes down you can't just simply put any old motherboard in. Most of the time you have to go rewire the whole damn lift and give it a new modernized brain. If you can just so happen find the right motherboard you saved the lift from being down the rest of the season.

I guess other then the lifts being removed by PCMR what would change? I assume the upper management that is fighting this battle would be removed. I dont think anything else would change as long as PCMR has been operating in the green. No logical reason for Vail to fix something that isn't broken.

Knowing what vail has done to a local hill near me, promising millions in improvements and literally doing nothing except adding epic passes and stupid marketing campaigns... I really don't trust them at all, park city is awesome as it is and vail better keep their hands off of that.
