I feel like I've gathered the important aspects of kiwi life from watching FotC. Anything I'm missing?
Hopefully moving there for the winter/summer if I can snag a visa.

Matt_DI just had my last bank statement from my US account, with like $6,0000 in it.
I mean you can borrow money from a friend a few days before your flight, then transfer it back right when you get into the country if you are confident you'll be sweet with $2,000, they aren't gonna check once you get in.
I also think they may be more lenient on the $4,0000 if you have a return ticket, because then that isn't something you need to buy and it shows you will leave the country etc.
theabortionatorWord. I was thinking of doing that as well. Didn't know if they would check once in. I figured worst case if they were I could transfer it back once I was in.
I want to buy a round trip ticket but I don't know if it's really doable. With the ski season weather can change things massively. I don't want to be living down there paying rent, not working for a month waiting for my flight. And I don't want to have a solid ski season going but have to fly out before it's over. Especially in a place where I know nothing about the variance in season length, weather etc. Maybe I'll talk to them and work out a good date and do the damn thing, fly out then regardless.
For the staff housing I need 2 weeks rent and a bond. There was information I found that said leaving yourself with $700 NZ was good to be a little on the safe side. I figure if I don't come till I'm going to be working, having a little over 1k should be enough to pay rent eat till the first check comes. The bus from there to the mountain is free and I could def swing another 6 weeks of rent food on top of the 2 weeks from above. That would give me 2 months to get my first check. If needed I'm sure I could stretch it even father. IF I come right before I'm going to start working I feel like I should get a check in the first 10 weeks. Hopefully sooner but just in case.
I'm just scared of getting to the border and having them be like lol nope.
HanYolowhat makes you think NZ will give you a visa? (serious question)
