ON3P Kartel 106 vs 98

I'm split in between the 98 and the 106, this is going to be my everyday mountain ski. I'm going to be using it in the park and dropping cliffs, probably about 60% mountain and 40% park. I want it to be light to throw 3's off some natural terrain and drop 10-15 foot cliffs. This won't be my pow skis so it won't be for those fresh days but I'm torn in between the 108 and the 106. If this helps I mostly will be using the ski at Sunshine Village.

98 = >50% Park
106 = >50% All Mountain

Anybody know what the flex on these is going to be? Softer or stiffer than the current jeronimo?

Basically the same. The 98 is a touch softer. The 106 is a touch stiffer. It is so minor I doubt people would notice a difference between the 3 (Jmo, 98, 106).

If you want it to be your everyday ski, want to take it into the park, and it isn't going to be your pow ski, definitely get the 98. Will be better for groomers and moguls, and easier to do tricks with in the park.

What is the swing weight like with the 106 vs. 98 vs. other skis in the same width category?

after trying the 98 at on snow i'd say it's MUCH softer than the jmo, or any ski you guys have ever produced haha.


I'd get the 98 if you want an every day ski, and the 106 if you want an every day POW ski.

Same layup and core profile. When I hand flex the two, I can barely tell a difference. Most of the changes were focused on tip taper to bring swing weight down and sidecut to make it a bit more turny in and out of jumps.

Maybe you haven't been on a 12/13 or 13/14 Jmo, but the flex is basically identical to those. 09/10, 10/11, and 11/12 Jmos were stiffer, but not a huge difference. Biggest change when we went to the 12/13 profile was a rounder, more even flex. Tips and tails are similar in flex, so you mostly notice it underfoot.
