What is the cheapest way to ship skis across the US?
I did a deal with someone and he is saying that every single place wants over $100 to ship a pair of 173 Chronics, with bindings. From Connecticut to Alaska
I recently bought skis from someone in SLC and he shipped them for 30 through UPS.
What would be the cheapest way to ship?

I sold a pair of 173 chronics with bindings that I shipped 2 years ago from PA to Iowa via fedex and it was something around 30. Was that a quoted price or just someone telling you it would cost that much?

using the postage calculator for usps it looks like $50 max

The most I've ever spent to mail skis with bindings was $25 with UPS.

Go to a ski shop and cop a leftover Box. The shipping shipping should be sub 30 but idk about Alaska. Having skis wrapped is mad expensive though so have them boxed before shipping

this sounds like this fool is trying to rip you off. tell him to have it shipped by ups and send you a picture of the receipt with addresses and usernames on it.

Go onto FedEx.com rate calculator and type in all the info, screen shot him the rate. Make sure to add 'oversized box'

UPS and fedex are overpriced in my opinion, but are more trustworthy that ur shit wil get them without a problem.

If u ship UPS PARCEL POST(ask them to ship cheapest way) it will cost the least. Shipping to canda costs 45-65 dollars. If u print label online it's 45.45 if u don't do it online it's more.

Within the United States it cost me 15 - 35 to ship depending on ski length and bindings weight. Most expensive to the us was 32 bucks for 178 chronics with bindings.

Basically:
Ask for cheapest way
Make ur own box
DO NOT GET UPS TO WRAP IT THEY FUCK U OVER
Go ask ski ship for box

yeah def get your own box, will def save you some cash as they charge up the ass for boxes that size etc. ive shipped a couple pairs of skis out east, and to arizona from montana and each time it was 32.00, from montana to boston, and montana to arizona, both were 32.00. good way to grab a good box is just to go to any ski shop and ask if they have any spare ski cardboard boxes, each time i went and asked i got free boxes from two different stores so that pretty much a guaranteed way to save you some bucks. since your shipping to alaska it will obviously be a lil more money, but saving cash by doing things like getting your own box and packing / taping it yourself will really save you some bucks. they charged by brother one time for a box for his skis he was shipping, and just the box and the packaging was 18.00. such a waste of money if you can get your own box and a roll of tape. good luck man.

UPS is significantly cheaper than USPS when shipping skis in my experience. I always pack my own box and all and USPS typically wants about $40 vs. $20 with UPS.

Not to sound like a broken record dude, but Alaska?? You know where that is right??

Just did the fedex calculator and 100 sounds right.

Much better option would be to take a hacksaw to em and ship it in thirds. Oversized packages are super pricey.

I did this again with generous guesses on the weight/box size and its still only $53 when you print the slip online (USPS) going from ct to juneau. kid is definitely trying to make a bit extra

We use FedEx domestically and internationally (we get good discounts through SIA).

That said, only way to ship to AK reasonable is USPS. I would be surprised if it was over $50. We paid about $40 to ship 2 pairs (24 lbs box) from Portland to Juneau last week.

I think I got mine rush delivered by ups from Easton, PA to Burlington, VT for around $50, I think a little under. 177 Nordica Ignitions (88 waist, park/all mountain ski) with bindings. They bubble wrapped them, provided the box, and I think they were insured too. I could see Alaska being more expensive though. Maybe you could get them shipped to Seattle if you have a friend/relative there and then have them mail it to you or pick it up (if you are close enough). I would suggest the ideas other people had though first, this would only be a last resort.

ive shipped a ski bag with skis and some winter clothes from toronto to madison and it wasn't cheap. about $100 if i remember right

I just checked it to a rural Alaskan zip code and got 127 cheapest by USPS...So I mean it could actually be 100 depending on where he lives.
