Like the title says, I want to get into filming. I don't have a really expensive camera, but I do have a basic coolpix camera that shoots in 12 megapixels. I have a ghetto little gopro handle for it and I'm currently out of skiing due to an acl injury. I'm thinking about filming anything just for some practice like; A day in the life of my dog, a rehab edit etc. If you guys have any suggestions or tips on how to get started please let me know! I appreciate the help NS.
uhh dont use that camera. at a minimum, use an old gopro. that is a basic point and shoot camera, which will give very poor footage that isnt even worth working with
Filming is cool dude, it doesn't matter if you have the $2000 camera as long as you're having fun. Always keep a microfiber cloth with you though... a dirty lens is no bueno.
An ALEXA mounted with Angenieux's Optimo 24-290 zoom with integrated zoom and focus motors,Marshall Monitor, and the Stwo OB1 DDR mounted on the back makes for a good lightweight beginner setup.
Any action cam will do the job to start and see if you really like it or not, I started with a cheap kodak action cam (something like the older version of this http://kodakcamera.jkiltd.com/Americas/cameras/activeCam/spz1.php) but it was shooting 720 and 60 fps so it was a good starting camera and it cheap so if you don't like it you didn't spend 500$ for nothing.
