Hello Ns I need help with my socks. Mostly Im asking Andy Parry because he also have cheese socks. I almost die everytime I take my boots off. It smells like someone stabbed a cat let it bleed out then sit for a month cover it in burnt rubber then take a shit on it. At this moment im on a plane with my boots above me and the whole fucking plane smells like a whore house
As a person living on about the same amount of cash as andy you got to hand wash in a sink with detergent. Twist out all the cheese crust when you wash and then put each sock over a hair dryer. If all else fails you can look for merino wool dress socks at a thrift store.
It is not your socks bro, it is your boots. You need to dry your boots every time otherwise they get the funk. Once your boots have the funk it is damn near impossible to get rid of.
I have a similar problem, but I think it starts with your boots. The inside of my boots regularly smell like rotting baby carcass and that kinda leaves the smell on my socks. So the solution should be to wash your boot liners and of course your socks.
I have tried many different techniques like freezing my socks, baking soda, detergent, hand sanitizer, and really nothing worked for me. What you need to do is burn all your socks, toss your boot liners, and start from scratch.
i had the worst boot funk ever. but then i got a girlfriend who did laundry. if you wear fresh socks each time out, its keeps the funk to a minimum. but like dude said up there, once its in, its in for good
Acquire lots of pairs of socks. One time use them. Wash them. Profit.
Seriously the only way to live. I can't believe I survived before. Nothing it worse than having to put on gnarly socks in the morning.
I probably have like 15 pairs of ski socks. Hell probably even more if I really looked. That pair here and there from christmas back in the day started to add up.
1) based on my extensive reading of western novels as a kid i can assure you that painted women working in a brothel smell nice, and the brothel has a very reduced staff for 1 week out of the month for a reason. if we are not talking about whores from the wild west circa 1870, then idk. things may have changed since then.
2) I can honeslty say i have only every smelt the famous tuna pussy once. And uncoincidentally it was a craigslist stripper giving a dildo show at a private residence.
3) I suggest a nevada NS'er do some first hand research and report back.
On a sunny day, take your liners out. Spray them to practically saturated with antibacterial Febreeze. Leave in sun to dry. Repeat if necessary until the smell is gone.
Frequently wash your socks if you have the chance. Take them off and put them on a drying rack (or anything else that allows air to circulate freely around them) as soon as you get down from the mountain. Take the inner boot (boot lining?? English isn't my first language) out of its plastic shell, remove the soles and let each part of the boot dry separately over night.
If you get really bad cheese sock it's best to suck it up and buy a new pair. At the stage were the sock looks and smells like the skin of a rotting baby seal it won't do much to keep your feet warm anyway.
Freezing can kill most odor causing bacteria but the sock (and probably your liners) need to be totally dry and if you can spare the time keep them below 0 for 24 hours
