ok so im looking for some powder skis i live in the midwest and dont get a huge ton of powder but i go out west about once a year. i just got back from park city and they had 20+ inches of powder in three days , long story short im now in love with the pow. im looking for some powder skis and so far i like the armada bubba, armada jj, k2 hellbent, the moment soul trains, and the moment soul trains. they are all around the same price point except the hell bents haha long list but any tips or other suggestions would be appreciated!!!
I would recommend going in the 115-125mm range. Lower end if you want a all around mountain ski, higher end if it's only for pow days. Go with about 50% rocker/50% camber so you get float and control. Pettitor, Bent Chetler, JJ, Bibby Pro, etc
ive demoed a bunch of powder skis and and im in love with rocker and dont really like camber i would only bring em out on powder days so i wouldnt use them as an all mountain ski
I think the hellbent is awesome for a powder specific ski and like a nice fat ski. I just bought moment ghost chants which are just like the ghost trains only symmetrical which is nice and wide with huge rocker.
Except the ghost trains have a much different flex pattern and rocker profile.
OP of you can find a pair of moment ghost trains OR night trains, buy them up immediately. Easily the best pow ski I have tried from a legit company and a price that wont break the bank. You moght hear people questioning moments durability, but that was with their earlier park specific models, and all of those problems have been fixed. Look in to em, seriously
They're an excellent pow ski if you don't ski switch. I'd love to try them, but I like skiing switch too much to buy them. Go with the Genome instead if you ski switch.
