5D or FS100

So I am allocating a budget for a new camera update from my Rebel T3i. I have lens set aside - Tokina 11-16. Canon 50mm canon 35mm. and the Canon 24-105 L glass. I am now looking to move to better resolution and a full frame. I did take pictures with my T3i but I think this time around I am doing a bit more of the film side. I may keep the t3i if I go the fs100 route but was curious on how the 5D stacks up against in and what lens would be needed for the FS100 side!

FS100, no question. The 5d is a great photo camera but the fs100 blows it away in the video department. I would suggest holding onto your t3i and picking up a used fs100 + metabones (ether speed booster or not)

You'll be set with the lenses you have now. What kind of tripod do you have? I upgraded my tripod after a year of having my fs100 and it made a huge difference

To be honest I didn't use a tripod much so I just got a basic canon one I picked up on B and H for like $30.

In what regard does shooting on a better tripod do? I just never shot on a decent tripod

1. A full frame rolling shutter camera will look horrendous unless you have a solid tripod.
2. 5D is a shit video camera by today's standards. Get it if you want to shoot stills; otherwise the fs100 is better in literally every aspect.

If you haven't even shot with a decent tripod I don't know if it makes sense for you to upgrade at this point. Invest in glass and stabilization if you really want better looking video, not a new camera. Look at Gavin Rudy's work, he shoots everything on a t3i, but he has put in a lot of hours to get to the quality of video he puts out. The 5D is versatile for timelapses and with the RAW video hack it can get amazing footage, but the FS is a real video camera with proper controls and inputs.

I dont think you're ready to buy an fs100,

Not the greatest comparison I know that's why I am asking a question. If I knew the answer I wouldn't be come here for help. Not get passive aggressive answers.
