I've had both kinds of boards and honestly my opinion is that Cruiser boards are better. I like to look at it this way, longboards are kind of like semi trucks and cruiser boards are just like regular cars and its a lot easier to turn in regular cars than it is in a semi. If you're not bombing down hills and stuff like those guys in the Sector 9 videos and stuff. Plus cruiser boards are easier to carry. Whats your opinion NS?
Regular long boards are way easier to turn, especially if you get double kingpin... But I like cruisers better because 1. I'm not bombing gnarly hills 2. I love being able to cruise around and Ollie over shir, maybe do some 180s. Cruisers can also be easier to slide because the decks are shorter but that all depends. But yea I'd say cruisers are my choice
Downhill decks are the only way to go. I have a single kick board and it is my favorite thing ever. Otherwise my skateboard gets me everywhere I don't want that. Cruiser boards are kinda pointless IMO.
Not really, most of a longboard's appeal comes with the reverse kingpin trucks most people use on them, along with the wheels softness and size (bigger+softer equals smoother ride after all).
RKP trucks give you a more smooth/leany turn as opposed of the divey feeling you get with the Traditional kingpin trucks on skateboards. Personallly, I'd never take a TKP truck past 30mph or so, but I'm sure it could be done.
Also in terms of just cruising around, the flex makes a longboard a ton more enjoyable haha.

I was bombing a hill last summer(phone app said we were going 38 mph at the time) and I hit a rock cause I'm an idiot and flew off my board and broke my elbow and had road rash on my legs arms and stomach. I had a rock lodged 3 inches in my forearm too. It was horrible. You can get hurt bad from skateboarding but usually you aren't going crazy fast like longboarding. Skating I think would give you more of a localized injury like just to your wrist, ankle,, blah blah where as longboarding it's like your entire body is involved. Either way injuries suck. Haha

But to answer the ultimate question of cruising or regular longboards, i have never used a cruiser in my life and am able to get around perfectly with my mini sugar/rayne vandal. It's all in the wheels. You don't want flatspotted wheels when riding around so most likely you wont be using the board you're going hard on the hills when you're just riding around.

You do know people first started skating by cruising down hills? Have you ever heard of Tony Alva, or Stacy Peralta? The guys that advanced all of skating in pretty much every aspect. Longboards are much more realistic for traveling long distances and thats what I used mine for. Fuck pushing/riding a regular skate board across town. Unless the pavement is in good shape, riding sucks compared to a longboard with bigger wheels and have fun eating shit on sticks and pebbles along the way. A regular skateboard can't easily handle 40+ mph down hills.

all time favorite setup: ZipZinger with bones ATF wheels. Board size is absolute prime.
So smooth and fun. I ride it at least 2 miles a day with out a problem and still can ride pool.
really if you get a cruiser i highly highly suggest bones ATF wheels, they make all the difference.

Lonboarding is way gnarlier at high levels than skating at high levels.
Both are still fun as fuck, but nothing beats my landyachtz time machine with the orangutang durians. Smooth, flowy, carves, and its fast.
