Just been diagnosed with adhd,
What is it like to ski on ritalin?
Anyone ever done this?

You are putting your heart at risk as you are anytime you exert yourself under the influence of a stimulant. That's pretty much all.

Besides, if you're prescribed it, you won't even feel like you're on it after a couple weeks of adjustment.

unless its a ridiculously high dosage you won't be able to tell. Ritalin isn't super fun but its good for SAT, all nighters ect.

I used to have a prescript in college and obviously still have ADHD but don't take anything for it now as a professional

I used it multiple times when skiing. I wanna say I had 20mg? maybe 10's, whatever you have I probably did as I only refilled a couple of times and never went and got rediagnosed/dr asked how it was.

I went to jackson hole and used it to hike every day and it worked good. I got really drunk one night and was in BAD shape the next day physically so being an idiot I popped 2 and drank a rockstar. I fried my brain so bad that I could barely get down the mountain. I ate a big breakfast which I threw up halfway on crags hike. Moral of the story is don't think it just keeps getting better(physical performance). I was an idiot and used it to the extreme and payed for it by not being able to ride the next 2 days.

Drink lots of water and eat a boat load before and during riding on it. Water is easy, eating is hard.

I like it better than adderall.

Idk you sweat more, space out, and talk less. Just like when you take it when you're not skiing.

I don't understand all the hype over Ritalin for stuff other than homework or staying awake. It's not a "fun" drug.

Never tried Ritalin but Adderall I ski on quite a bit. I like it cause it makes you want to never stop. Ill take adderall and get in a good 8 or 9 hour day of lapping the park. The lift rides suck though cause I hate sitting in one place that long

I was diagnosed with add from a young age and was taking 56 mg of concerta when I decided I was done taking it. I was pretty used to the feeling of it so I guess I never really noticed anything different while skiing or doing anything else for that matter but in general you just feel like you're inside your own little bubble and feel very reserved (hard to explain unless you've felt it and not necessarilly good or bad).

You have won the jackpot. On Ritalin, you will be more aware of what you are doing and your confidence will peak. Just don't take too much cause then you'll just be floating around and not really do much.

Nobody wants to be there, everyone would rather be doing something else, and its hard to concentrate because it is so damn boring cruising down a huge mound of earth that is covered in cold solidified water particles. What a drag.
With Ritalin you will now be able to focus through the boredom of day-in day-out shredding.

In all seriousness, you dont need to use concentration enhancing substances for something you love. Use it for the rest of the shit life throws at you like school or work or chores or when your girlfriend wants you to go to something you really dont want to like dinner with her parents.

Skiing is a stimulant.

Skiing on adderall most definitely improved my skiing. People talk about athletes getting in a flow state, which is where performance is highest. Adderall absolutely put me in the zone, and the flow state.

I have skied many times with ritalin or adderal. I do for safety not because of skiing itself, but driving to and from the mountain. With ADHD i long drives can be challenging.

I certainly felt it helps my focus and notice when I don't use it.

Stimulants are debatably the most effect erogenic aid for skiing. While there is lots of physical parts, being able to focus is probably the most important

ya I hear that a lot. And I would agree that it is over diagnosed. But for many people it is neurological and real. So unless you're a medical doctor I don't think it fair for you to make such assumptions about other people's lives.

Obviously long drives are challenging for everyone. But I was simply saying that if I'm driving to the mountain, which takes roughly an hour through a city, I am a much safe driver with meds.

Yes and no. yes in a sense they do over diagnose it and no about the "made up" part. I was lied to by a teacher at a young age and was on a adult-strength dosage of adderall though in like 3rd grade. It's a real thing but I've taught myself to operate without any drugs. Haven't had a full-on Ritalin schedule in about a year and a half now.

I understand that. It is a concern I have shared.

I know this doesn't apply for everyone, but for myself at least I've measured my RHR while on meds at roughly 70BPM and my BP being 115/ 70, so even doing exercise, and skiing for the most part for me would be submaximal and non-ventilatory I doubt that my HR would exceed 150BPM. Where as there are times when training without meds my HR has been much higher.

If someone had a heart condition it would be different. But I really don't think a typical dosage on someone who is apparently healthy would have any impact that could seriously do damage. Assuming that they have already had the chance to try it out before.

Used to be prescribed it back when I was in school and took it almost every day even if I wasn't doing work. You get used to it and its just like normal skiing. You dont get "fucked up" or anything at all unless you take a retarded amount of it in which case you will probably die. Though you get mega focused and hikes / tricks /etc i found to be more doable just because my brain was going 100000mph.

If you really want to get fucked up crush some of it up and snort a line. Thats where its really at. Kinda like a dumbdown version of coke but still gets you pretty ramped up.
