Can you break skis with your hands?

I'm know that this is a very stupid question, but I was curious. Do you think you could break a pair of skis but giving them a flex test with your hands? I'm not ripped or anything, but am always a little weary that one time I will press the skis too hard when flexing either mine or someone else's.

Thanks. This is what I was more asking, how much is a "ok" amount to push. Has anyone broken a pair flexing them?

If you broke them hand flexing how do you suppose they could possibly stand up to all the forces you put on them skiing? Especially skiing park

Considering people can do tip-stands on even the noodlyiest pair of skis, I doubt youll break them with your hands unless you are on ALL THE ROIDS

You might be able to if the skis are old and have a lot of days on them. I don't why you would want to because there would be a lot of force built up and it would probably hurt a lot when they snap.

Fip the ski upside down, so the topsheet is facing up.
Flex the ski like you would normally when testing the flex of ski, with one hand right in the center.
Watch it snap like Tonya Harding.

It's easier with bindings on too because it creates a fulcrum point

If by break you mean in half I don't think that would work.

When I worked at my local shop the manager actually encouraged me to "break" skis or make the layers crack so that it doesn't happen to the customers.

It happened to me a couple times while trying to sell skis and I was told to explain that it is normal for skis to crack or "pop"

My buddy Al Lanning helped start Ninthward. When he was hand flexing a prototype ski he snapped it right in half. So yes I guess it's possible. With a bad prototype ski

Yeah, a ski that hasn't been flexed yet then the popping you are hearing is the glues breaking up.

One day a guy came in to the last shop I worked at with a snowboard he designed as "unbreakable" my boss flipped it and flexed it, snapped like a twig. Dude's face was priceless

Use the simple formula:

ski length x color opacity/absorbance of light+weight x effective edge-turning radius/number of mounts

Yes that is correct order of operations and it should give you the amount of force in grams you can apply without snapping.
