How i met your mother finale (Spoilers)

personally i liked the ending, i know it pissed a lot of people off but that's what the show had been alluding to since the beginning.

Part of me always knew that would happen. I still liked it though.

what happened

Barney was actually a terrorist and he blew up New York, killing all of our beloved characters.

deebie, ted meets the mother, robin and ted get divorced, the mother dies, barney gets a woman pregnant and changes (oh my god how original) when he sees the baby, ted finishes the story and his kids go OMG you like robin you should go after her, and he does. robin has like 5 dogs. the end.

Not to mention that all of that happened in five minuets after an entire season of crap.

I definitely still liked it, but how do you end it that quickly

I stopped watching this show 4 years ago because I thought it was such a dragged out story. Reading ^that summary of what happened in the last episode I think I made a good decision back then, because holy shit that sounds like the lamest solution to the mother deal ever. I honestly didnt even realise HIMYM still was on the air.

robin got passed around like a cheap french hooker

I agree, they spent a whole season dragging out the course of a weekend fulfilling backstories and tying up loose ends, and then dropped bomb after bomb in one short hour. It felt a little cheap but I'm assuming the intention was for the season finale to hit hard, which it was successful in doing. I'm not sure if I would've liked a longer (2 hour) season finale more, or less. Regarding the ending, Barney and Robin never sat well with me, so it was somewhat of a relief (for Ted as well, even though he was happily married (engaged?)) when they got divorced. I mean hell, he had accepted it but it was clearly still a pretty substantial thorn in his side considering he had committed to move to Chicago 12 hours after the wedding. His feelings had overcome his bond with his friends so heavily he couldn't stand to even live there anymore. As far as reuniting with Robin, he was engaged to the mother for 5 years? They were married, had 2 kids, and he told them the story 6 years later. He finally got his idea of a perfect wife, and convinced himself to move on (though he was never truly capable of it) from Robin. In my opinion it's a misconception to think he told his kids 9 seasons of stories to get their approval for him to go after Robin, I think it was merely a suggestion after they'd heard everything he had to say.

Take that how you may, it's open to interpretation, just how I felt after watching it and obviously not a lot of people will agree, but I think the show fulfilled it's intentions and I'd prefer to think the characters ended up happy.

i didn't think the plot points were good, but my dismay at the episode was way less about that and way more about the presentation. the pacing and editing were just terrible, especially after such a drawn out series

Fuck this show. I stopped watching a long time ago and am very glad I didnt waste anymore time with this useless shit they convince people to watch every week.
