He gave me a ticket that has a court date. Sorry for me repeating anything but this just happened about 20 minutes ago and my heart is till pounding out of my chest.

nah but seriously your good, you shouldnt even have to go to court because you were not going 20 over, like you i got a ticket for going 18 over not too long after i got my license, it was a 100$ fine and 2 points on my license. i paid the ticket online and never had to think about it again.

hmm, read your ticket carefully in most cases if you pay the ticket within the 30 days or whatever you dont have to go to court. if you do have to go to court its not really a big deal, odds are if you actually go to court you can easily get the punishment reduced. honestly any tickets under 20mph over the speed limit really arent a big deal.

Depends on the state laws. I wouldn't think so and you can probably plea down the ticket. Learn something for the future though. Cops have nothing better to do. Anything over by 10 or more they'll grab ya unless it's a highway. Speed zones are always the places they post up especially if it's a crazy insanely unnecessarily low speed limit.

I live in Ohio, and I doubt they'll take it completely away. This is very important. If your parents go into the courtroom with you and tell the judge that they haven't been letting you drive and are greatly restricting your privileges with a plan in place, I almost guarantee the judge will let you off with the minimum. My friend was going 95 in a 65 and that worked great, still had to pay the fine though.

Mistakes happen for speeding. You will receive a ticket from the police within a couple of weeks. You still have your license until you pay your fine. Paying a fine is admitting your guilt and accepting the consequences and accepting the demerit points. If you are learner, you may get your license suspended.

Unless you have been charged under the reckless driving laws, you have been arrested and your license have been pulled on the site. You can challenge the charge in court and pass it as a lapse in experience and judgement that will see your charge dropped to speeding.

Go to court. If you make the effort and show up on the court date and are honest and polite with the judge, sometimes he'll cut you a deal. Offer to take their remedial driver's course and if you do that and pass it won't even go on your record

Go to court, I have heard of multiple times where people get their fines lowered or are able get get away with much lower charges because they took the time to go to court.

It all depends on the state. In Massachusetts if you get a ticket before you're 18 you have to go to court and if the court chooses you can get your licenses taken away for a maximum of 3 months. I know kids who have gotten their license suspended for 30 days and other for 3 months. I also know some who have gotten out of the ticket. All depends on what the judge thinks. If you're respectful and admit your mistake or have a reasonable excuse you'll get out of it. If not, just take the penalty.

Alright chill, you got a ticket it's not the end of your world.

Going to traffic court is real easy. Show up dressed and groomed like a respectable human being. No tall tees or hoodies, wear something nice. Show up with a parent. Make it look like you're responsible.

If it's anything like what my traffic court experience was, you all show up and enter some room. They say some bs and then you get on line where you'll talk to the district attorney or whoever. Rush to the front of the line. Seriously no one wants to wait on line all day, just do it.

At the front they'll cut some quick deal where you pay them a bunch of money. If your ticket qualifies for points you may be able to pay the points away. This usually beats paying extra to the insurance company for a couple years because of the points.

That's basically what I did. It was very easy with no lasting repercussions. I luckily had a full license for mine, but if you're all respectable about it they should hopefully not screw you over and take it away for a long time.

The worst part was paying $450 for the ticket, points, and fees. I got caught going pretty fast and that was even after the cop knocked down my speed by 10 mph for having an otherwise clean record. Shit sucked!

If you're white and polite you already have a lot going for you in court... Google your state rules about that. In NY if you're 16 I think there is some sort of probabtion period but i'm not sure. Chances are they might not even notice how long youve had your license for.

In vt you can lose it for 15 over until you turn 18, but I have had friends fetvthem lowered because their parents went in and complained to the police. They didn't wipe it, but they reduced it to below the threshold for losing a license. Check your local laws, but if you have as clean record and seem like a good kid you might have decent luck fighting it. Also, if 15 is the limit for a more sever offense (like in vt), you can argue that thevradar equipment isn't sensitive enough. Some can be off by a decent margin, and this is a well known fact. It(combined with speedometer sensitivity) is the reason you won't get pulled over until your going at least 5, sometimes 10 over

It isn't necessarily a calibration thing. Even when properly calibrated in ideal conditions, they need to make sure they have the right car, and there is still a margin of +/- 2 or 3 mph, sometimes more. They can also be reflected, and there are a number of other situation specific but real potential errors. I was simply suggesting that if there is a cutoff at 15mph (in vt there is for junior operators), that he admits to speeding, but to say that he was under 15 over, which is within the margin of error of the radar gun. This way he would face a smaller ticket, less on insurance, etc. I'm not suggesting that he try to have the ticket voided because the gun was off by a little, but to get it changed to a lesser charge (if applicable).

Eg. You are doing 100 in a 65, only car on the road, not raining etc., and you get caught. Your car might have only displayed 95, the radar might say 102, but the margin of error is so small compared to the violation, that it is quite clear you were speeding. Not really worth arguing about a few mph.

If you are clocked at 67 in a 65, you can and should get it overturned (mostly for insurance purposes), because that margin of error is the difference between guilty and not guilty. Same thing when there are tiers for speeding. In vt, first is 1-15 over, after that it goes into the next category. If you are near the border for one of these, then you should argue.
