Well today was a big day, I got my uncle to agree to help me start the legal work on my foundation in exchange for a week of work on his flooded homes in the Big Thompson Canyon. Hopefully with some luck it can be started by this next season.

The idea is to get more elementary-middle school kids who would never be exposed to skiing to experience it, either for a day or for years. Getting my uncle to a agree is a pretty big step towards making a goal reality.

Why do you want to introduce more kids to skiing? Are the lift lines not long enough for you? Are you trying to introduce kids whose families cannot afford it to something which they may love but then not be able to do afterward? Why not introduce these kids to something more attainable, something more empowering? Take them hiking, camping, etc. Roast marshmallows over an open fire. Filter water out of a stream. Skiing is not accessible to the average kid these days. Lift tickets are $70 a day and up in most places. Rentals add a huge amount to that as well, or a massive outlay of cash to finance a setup.

I'm all for empowering the youth and introducing them to new ways to have fun but please keep it realistic and attainable. Scholarshipping one day of skiing for a 10 year old is not helping anyone and may do more harm than good. I like your idea but not your focus. Maybe rethink it?

You realize hiking and camping are both very expensive hobbies too right? And i completely disagree, most ski bums are broke as fuck and still afford their ticket, gear, etc...

A. Its all skiing, and that does not exist how I want it to. It doesn't reach where i want it to, and how fast I want it to.

B. No, its really not more expensive. The cost of rentals is a lot, but if i could get a ski area on board, it wouldn't be that much more than funding other popular activities. I know many broke people who ski just as much as rich ass people, and its all because they were exposed to it at the right age. Maybe im wrong but its something i'm willing to try. And yeah i do want more normal kids to be skiing, id rather wait in lift lines with them than boring lawyers from Chicago. Lift tickets are expensive, but ski areas already give away some lift tickets, and with the right sponsorships it would be possible.

I'm not saying its easy, or what i want to do is possible, but it worth trying.
