I love maple syrup, not that pussy fake ass thick stuff like mrs.butterworth and shit like that but pure, natural syrup from vermont or Canada (grade A, the flavors in b and c are just too weak for me) . I envy the Canadian newschoolers and their easy access to great syrup.

Nothing can compare to real maple syrup, even the generic grocery store brands do it well compared to the corn syrup shit.
I sometimes make my own "fake" maple syrup when I run out of the real stuff. IIRC, it is just sugar, brown sugar, water, and maple flavoring. While it just isn't the same as real maple syrup, it is still so much better than butterworths or any other corn syrup shit.

If you haven't spent a morning in a maple sugar shack you haven't experienced one of lifes greatest pleasures

Grew up with a few within stones throw distance from my house. Go in there with some fresh sausage or bacon and just dip into the evaporator....literally the best tasting thing in the world

Been waiting for this thread. Real maple syrup is like the forbidden fruit in Eden because one taste and you literally can never go back to that fake shit. Loss of innocence. Luckily my parents raised me right on the good stuff.

Anybody have specific brands they prefer?

I live in maine so im accustomed to having nice maple syrup, so its not that exciting, but I agree that when I have fake syrup it tastes terrible.

Also, I once tried to tap a sycamore tree without really doing any research, after going through the whole process I ended up with about a teaspoon of syrup...

I live in the sticks and there are some old dudes still making it. Also not very far from vt.


That said I haven't really touched it in a while. I've been skipping breakfast and living off spaghetti for lunch and dinner and syrup doesn't really go to well with that.

idk if ive ever really had REAL maple syrup. pretty sure its always been the mass produced shit from the grocery store. i only eat it a few times a year, so never really payed much attention

I usually get the mass produced stuff. It's basically the same. Like it's not as good as the stuff you get from the farmers market, but still amazing.

I usually just get this stuff because it's cheap
