BC government has just passed a bill and made it legal to drill, construct pipelines, etc. in National and Provincial parks. Whats next? Reserves and protected areas too? This is so not alright on so many levels. These areas need to be left alone. They are one of the few links we have to Canada's beauty prior to human contact.
We need to protect our land, protect our winters, protect our trees, so on and so forth. The fact that these areas have been opened up for assessment means open for production. As an Environmental Engineering student I am beginning to understand the impact of actions like this. We are doing a very poor job of managing our resources. It needs to change. Fast.
These areas are where some of the biggest and best backcountry segments of all time were and will continue to be filmed. If they are left up to the hands of the oil giants there is no telling what could happen to our sledding and touring terrain.
Take the time to help us out and sign the petition to stop this madness:
