Pros Skiing at Your Home Mountain

About a week and a half ago, I was shredding with some friends at our home mountain of Snoqualmie Pass. I was an awesome day, temperatures in the 40s, and full blue. About half way through the day, we are all chilling at the medium jump line. I look over, and I see a guy on some 2014 or 15 Armada JJs with some STH 16s, and I was pretty sure I knew who he was. As he drops in switch, I look over to someone and I was like,

"wait, is that..?"

This guy responds,

"Yep, its Hornbeck!"

It was already a pretty sick day, and it just got better. It feels cool when you see a pro throwing down at your home mountain, especially when it isn't a super popular place like mammoth or park city. My question to you all who are shredding small mountains or grew up shredding one is this,

do you have any cool memories of seeing pro skiers throwing down at your home mountain?

traveling circus has been here to toggenburg a couple times and andy parry came this year for the tell a friend tour.

Used to see Rory bushfield and Eric hjorliefson in the park all the time at lake Louise way way back in the day. Eric would backflip everything and do really smooth cork 7 tails on the bigger hits. I remember bushy taking a cab 9 way to deep and eating absolute shit, but he got up and collected his shit as if nothing happened.

Haven't seen any pros at my mountain in person (except for the ridiculously good VG boarders), but I have seen a few setups leftover from pros hitting handrails because I live in Minneapolis.

Wiley miller hangs out at bigsky a lot. And I guess our local "pros" are Brock Paddock, Shay Lee, Aj madahl, and all those guys from the tsp gang

Ive seen Thomas Krief (french pipe rider) ride quite a few times in my local meribel (french alps) park. Saw kevin at la plagne too, but its kinda cheating cos it was a few days before his invitational and he always shreds at la plagne. Did see him at meribel too tho.

Traveling circus and some other peoples came through west when I worked there. Nothing at gore other than some pretty ill reps. People were from cranmore but nobody rode there when I was there.


And Oak. LOL If somebody you could even loosely be considered a pro came cruising through the park at Oak I'd probably think I was hallucinating again. I guess there's always the chance that somebodies car will break down in the middle of the adk's right near us and decide to shred for the day.

Aidan Sheahan, Torin and Matt Walker all shred here at Snowmass a lot. Gotten lucky enough become a friend of Aidan over this past year. Oh and the traveling circus came here early season but I missed out on that day :/

I got to ski with Tanner Rainville in telluride a couple of months ago, it was really cool to see his approach to natural features in person.

Well hornbeck just moved up to wa this season, that's why he's been skiing at Stevens/Snoqualmie so much. And those were the new halo 2s (phil's pro model) with 18 din tyrolias. I'm a shop tech at evo and I was working the night he came in to mount them. But yeah the dude kills it, it's always cool to see him throwing down.

first off blue bird days at Snoqualmie are the best. that being said, i saw mike up at Stevens toward the start of the year, im surprised to hear he was at snoqualmie.

you can see the 2015 line up for line skis now on their site. In the new TC episodes, hes riding the chronics. They have the tiger on the top sheet.

Skied with Ahmet, hornbeck, and Jaron Stadler at big boulder beginning of last season. Got to sesh a 100 foot single barrel with them and like 50 other skiers while they gave out prizes which was so sick

Skied and got filmed with Mike Douglas for Switchback for some video for next year whistler promo, on a bluebird pow day, was a good day to say the least! Also got on a lift with Max Hill yesterday!

I remember seeing Max Hill for the first time at blue mountain. Super young kid on a pair of atomic race skis painted gold wearing snowboard gear for a suit.

I took a lap with him and was like "Dude, its way easier with twins."

Max wanted to do it all on straight race skis.

Thusly began the birth of the Max we all now know.

Not at a mountain, but I saw Toysoldier Productions down the street from my house and I saw Cam Riley filming with Stept hit a crazy trainbridge rail over the road as we drove under so that was crazy.

Yes, TWO occasions this season where I creamed my pants and didn't know what to do with myself...

Almost rode the park lift with Candide at Keystone when he was filming for the Faction edit, and then almost rode the T bar at Breck with Delorme.

There are pros from left to right at Hood all throughout the season. In fact i just met Pollard the other day. I barely even recognized him at first with his crutches and brace.

Meet Andy and Ross at Seven Springs during the first TAFT. Wasn't my most local mountain but was only a couple hours away. I was surprised how chill and down to earth they are. Andy even liked talking to my dad about travel logistics and he explained that him and Ross's next drive was 31 hours strait from PA to UT which was planned so they could see their girlfriends on New-years. That was a great day.

My first switch rodeo i did was right after i looked to my right, and Edollo was standing beside me and im like "fuck better do this". Kelly sildaru also came to my area and we skied with her. Cole drexler is from my area too but doesnt really count hes a local.
