Hey NS I'm going to be going to the Dumont Cup at Sunday River this weekend and just wanted to hear some feedback about what its like. I am also wondering if there are chances to meet pros and stuff because there is nothing about that on the Dumont Cup site and I really would like to meet a pro. Any positive feedback appreciated/+K.
Yeah that's true I know Alex schlopy, joss Christiansen, Gus kentworthy, nick goepper, McRae Williams and tom Wallisch (judging) are going. Have you been or know the setup?
I've been 2 or 3 times it's super fun you'll definitely get to meet and talk to pros and there's usually poster signings and what not and if you want to fight with a bunch of kids there's a decent amount of swag tossed
There are always a few guys who set up a table for signing and give out posters and stuff after the event so you can talk to them then. Everyone pretty much hangs out at the end of the course at the end when everyone's taking their last runs too so you can almost always find someone to talk to unless everyone is already swarmed by a thousand little kids. Generally the not so big names, especially those who didn't make finals, will just be hanging out and are generally pretty easy to approach. It's a fun time, especially if you wanna talk to some pros for the first time. I remember being in that position years ago and I got to talk to a bunch of pros and was super stoked.
My advice if you really want to meet some pros is to not be annoying about it and don't follow the swarm of kids. Strike up a conversation with the guys. They're not robots and they do actually talk about things other than the Olympics and skiing and whatnot.
There are ample opportunities to converse with pros, and if you're really lucky you might be able to catch one off guard and get them alone where you can diddle them because from op it sounds like you're into that kind of shit.
