Why Do we like skiing?

I didnt searchbar, but im sure it has been discussed before.

Has anyone ever wondered why we like skiing? Why is it fun to slide on rails and spin jumps? just some late night thoughts i guess haha

For me, there is something about the absolute purity of thought that really hits me hard. My mind is always so busy, and totally unable to focus on just one thing... except when I'm skiing.

When I'm skiing its complete clarity. When I have issues in my life, and I hit a jump, rip a groomer or slash some pow - everything else ceases to matter.

There is simply nothing else in this universe I have ever experienced like the feeling of skiing.

Its just absolutely amazing.

I met some of the coolest people I know through skiing, and namely NS actually. It's just a really cool sport that succeeds at bringing the community together I guess!

There's ONE reason skiing is so popular - It's not a sport.

I mean sure technically it is, but there's too many aspects to be able to categorize, you're not competing against anyone(other than in competitions but I'm not a fan of any of them), you can do it alone or you can do it with as many as you like, you meet people, you get to move faster than you would in a land vehicle and still be safer, you'll literally never get bored, if you start finding yourself doing anything repetitive you can go elsewhere, it's endless is the point.

When I stomp a trick I just get super stoked and feel like a boss, I'm getting to the age now that my progressions slowing down but my love for skiing just keeps getting bigger

because at some resorts they have people who help you go the right speed, if you're going too fast they'll let you know.

I like how connected I feel. It's a way for me to escape and just get away from the stress and the world. Skiing is a way to express myself.

Its just amazing. I love the way the rest of the world just disapears when i go out skiing. I love being so connected with the mountain. I love how damn scary it can be. I love experiencing all of this with amazing people. I love that you can do something new every day on skis if you want to. Everything about it is perfect.

Honestly though since i tore my acl/mcl/meniscus in early February I've come to realize how important skiing is to me. If I'm having a good day going skiing makes it even better, and if I'm having a bad day going skiing helps me forget about whatever stupid thing is troubling me. Even though my home is under 300' tall, it has become like a sanctuary to me. Not being able to ski at all lately just sucks and the past few weeks its all I can seem to think about.
