East coast pow ski

Hey guys.
I'm looking for a ski to ride in the soft snow for next year on the east. I've never owned/used a ski over 85mm underfoot so i'd imagine it's gonna be a pretty big adjustment. I want something that floats better than the park skis I ride now but is still maneuverable in the tight trees. The perfect balance is probably hard to find but maybe some of you have some input
For reference: I'm about 5'7 150 and right now I ride 171 coreupt candide yards (84mm) and 168 moment vices (83 mm). I'm probably looking to sell one of these soon to help pay for the new pair

for more reference: I'm aggressive in the trees and steep stuff... just looking for a more ideal ski when the snow's good

realisticaly, there isnt need for anything larger than like a 105 waisted ski on the east coast. I mean i ride a 186cm 116mm ski for pow in NY and VT, but its just not necessary. Especialy since straight up width isnt as necessary is it used to be with rocker, tapering, etc.

just about every complany makes a ski like this too so if you have a brand preference then you could always go for their ski.

dude im in the market for the same type of ski, ive been looking at the cody, shreditor/petittor, live life, line influence, blogs, etc. i ski blends right now as a park ski so im looking for something a bit wider. most likely will throw pivot 18s on whatever i end up buying, gonna be a sick setup

thanks man. I was looking into the blends and I'll definitely look into the others.
Also, I'm used to riding center mounted skis. When/if I get a fatter ski, would center mounting them affect how they ride in the pow

i would say -3 to -5 would be a perfect place to mount them. even at -5 they are still trickable and playful skis. center mounting any of those isn't a bad idea, it just depends on your style. for example, i had a center mounted 188 Moment tahoe at one point, it was great for park but definitely compromised the skis all mtn skiability.

Surface one life's are my east coast all mtn/pow ski. They actually carve pretty well thanks to the camber underfoot, but you hve to really be charging. For the few pow days we had this year, they left nothing to be desired and are really playful with the ridiculous rocker. I'd definitely recommend them

Jmo's would suit. I have had a great few days on them riding about 50cm of pow. In the soft stuff they were great, easy to throw around and good in the trees too. Plenty of float too for a 100mm ski. Personally I don't really like them on the hard pack and carving but in soft snow and cut up snow they are great. May be worth a look.

Other skis to look at would be the armada tst or arv ti. Lighter then the jmo and better on the groomed runs but maybe not quite as fun in the soft.

The new salomon rocker 100 would be good too.

Moment PB&Js sound perfect for you. I ski them at Whiteface and Jay Peak and they're amazing. Stiff but not too stiff, they plow through crud and you can fucking CHARGE on them. The mustache rocker is great, enough camber to hold an edge and enough rocker to be quick and nimble through the trees and bumps. You can ride them on a pow day and the entire week after. They float really well.
On top of that they're really durable, I've ridden over countless rocks, tree stumps, and exposed shit and they barely have a scratch on the base. Plus they're handmade in the great ole US of A.

In all honesty I've been there once this year, and I was riding ar7s. I'm a freshman at Clarkson and I vastly underestimated how little skiing I would be able to do while pledging a fraternity.

This, but I would wait for the new Kartel 106, which is based on the Jmo, just more all mtn focused. Perfect pow ski for the east.

I am also looking at some east coast powder boards. What I have been looking at are line SFB and salomon rocker 2 108 (both 108 underfoot). Would these be too fat for here on the east?
