Loss of momentum.

I was bored of doing this trick on a small jump so decided to bring it up to a jump double the size. It was scary as shit but I stomped it clean maybe 5 times. Then it happened, I fell once. Got pretty knocked up. Was still stoked so I tried it again.. Fell again. Tried it once more fell again 2 more times. Then I even tried it again on a smaller jump. Fell again in the compltely same way. Kinda gave up for the day. Afraid I will never be able to get it again. Does this ever happen to you?

when it does happen all you can do it go back another day and try it again, and stomp it.

I find myself stomping tricks the first few times because im thinking about them a lot and being precise then once I get it down I don't think about it and get sloppy

Your head is fucking with you. My entire competition 'career' was plagued with crippling self doubt. Never could put shit down under pressure, and as soon as I crashed on a trick I would lose it for a while.

Best advice is if you're having a bad couple of tries at a trick is to stop doing that and just do some confidence boosters for a few laps. Stomp a couple other stock tricks ina row and you'll feel a lot better to give the other one a try.

As others said, sometimes that trick isn't meant to be landed that day. Shut it down and come back tomorrow.

To start off this season I was on fire (at least I felt like that).. I was progressing more than ever. Having more fun than ever and felt more confident than ever.  Then, one day I hit the slopes hungover as shit and less than 4 hours of sleep.  2nd run I tried sliding a rail that I did for the first time the day before.  I busted my shit and slammed my knees hard.  That was it. I lost my confidence and my body just won't go back to where I was in the beginning of January.  I still can't mentally or physically get back to where I progressed to.  My body is healed but something happened that day that really killed my momentum.  It may have something to do with being 24 but I am in the best shape I have ever been in.

I always land a trick 3 times when I learn it then just chill the rest of day, come back nxt day do some more, usually they r sloppy then bout week of practice I got the trick on lock

Yeh man, i think most people get days like that. I find going and doing something completely different for a while helps - different jumps or tricks or even leaving the park altogether for a few hours, then come back to it.

Totally get you on this.

What I always think about is how much it must fuck with one of the super pro's head when they have to come back from a massive injury. I don't even know how you'd do it.

This. Watch Will Wesson's or Steve Stepp's game of s.k.a.t.e. When they start getting behind in the count, the first thing they do when they get their turn back is throw an easy 4 out, or something else that is easy enough for them to get their confidence back.

It's always a lot easier to throw down a new trick when you stomped the shit out of your last five. Think of it like this: you have a steeze meter above your head at all times. You need "x" amount of tricks to fill it up before hucking a new one. This always tends to help me and it's overall more fun ski when you're landing the tricks you already know than falling on the ones you don't. Just be patient.

There's something to be said for re-learning tricks that ended in a bad injury in a safe environment to mentally remind yourself that the injury was a freak accident and you really DO have that trick. I used to throw backflips ALL the time, and then I broke my back overrotating one and just stopped doing them. It took a few seasons and a session on an airbag and then into powder to even try one on snow again.

Some tricks just never come back. I still very rarely throw backies in the park. I have a friend who won't throw lincolns but has no problem boosting huge rodeos. Another friend has 3 dubs but doesn't really throw fronts anymore due to a bad crash. Sometimes you just have to move on to different tricks.

Any advice on what to do coming back from breaking all four limbs in 9 months? Broke both my wrists doing urban, a foot slacklining, and and another foot falling down some stairs. Bad luck. Should I even try to get back to where I was? This was my first and last weekend this season since January 10th. Took forever to slide a rail. Let along disaster one. I cant bring the balls back to even 270 on or off rails, let alone a switch up. However I have confidence on jumps I have never felt. I learned frontflips and cork 5s. But tricks I used to be able to do are near impossible. Im only 18 and have had a season ending injury twice now, and always have come back. Should I even come back next season? Or should I switch to going behind the lens?

When I fall 2 or 3 times in a row on a jump i focus on rails for the next 4 or 5 runs. Then i try an easy trick on a jump again and if i land it i continue to jump.
