No lift lines on any of the good terrain, plenty of mountains to pick from, and a local posse who loves to shred. Also the town has plenty of cheaper dining drinking options. Carbondale is even cheaper. Compared to Vail, it's the bee's knees. Compared to Crested Butte, or Telluride, it's a little uppity. But it's easily one of the best places to go skiing on great terrain and not deal with an over corporate environment. The ski patrol is actually cool.
As far as the uber rich go, yeah they are there, but they are in their own world, so it doesn't really affect anyone.
