1) My processor is a good processor for the price. Clocked @ 4 GHz, who the fuck cares? I don't have the money to blow on a locked I7.
2) You're clearly uneducated if 16 gb of RAM is "too much"
4) A chassis is a case moron.
5) There is literally no difference in performance of a mech and non mech keyboard.
6) You clearly know nothing about computers because my "ok" mouse is a fucking $10 piece of shit off of Amazon.

Edit: I misnamed the card. It's a Sapphire 7770 HD. On another note, how can you judge a card that doesn't even exist? I can run anything on ultra graphics that I need to run no problem. I get smooth 60 fps playing Skyrim on ultra settings jacked up with 8k textures. My GPU is fine.

im really into RC airplanes.
My college senior design project was to build a FPV craft with a deployable 3lb package and also had to carry a 15lb payload for an international SAE competition in LA.

I personally have 2 helicopters and a foamy powered glider now but i think im going to get an electric warbird in the near future.

Oh yea, and I like to put a gopro on on my glider and fly it around interesting locations.

To Granite State$, yeah it is. It's the parchment one too. I got it with the console version the Christmas that the game came out.

And Olimar, I understand that. I now own Morrowing and Oblivion. I was too young to know about them when they were the latest game. From what I understand, they're both better than Skyrim. I personally can't really enjoy them after putting in probably 300 hours combined on console and PC, just because everything in Skyrim is nicer. I do believe you're right in terms of plot line. I did really enjoy the DLC questlines though. I thought that Dawnguard was really awesome, especially the quest where you have to go all the way to the top of the castle. So large and epic.

I've gotten pretty damn good at AoE3. It's really time consuming during the school year so I play during the summer. Last summer I earned a silver medal for most wins (globally) with the Iroquois. I read comics, play Lego marvel superheroes, watch marvel shows, doctor who, Star Wars, Star Trek, and so on....

Plus my phone backgrounds are always nice to look at.

What kind of heli's?

I've got too damn much, like a plethora of micros; both bought and scratch built, a Carbon Z Yak-54 which is my main huckfest machine, a Tiger 2 with a O.S. 60 in it that's my railed aerobatics/pattern machine, a blade 400 and a blade mcpx.

I think I might get a discuss launch glider or something for the summer to just mellow back in a lawn chair at the field. Dial things back some.

there are server motherboards that have room for 2 processors and i think 8 ram slots so it could be possible. I somewhat think there is a workstation board out there like that as well.

Unforunatey, I'm not much of a nerd... I did play Magic when I was 12 though. Does that count?

I never play video games, but have decided I should give it another go. I've honestly only liked three different video games in my life: Age of Empires 2, Diablo 2 and Half Life 2. Three very different genres, but pretty much everything else is boring to me. I'm not interested in RPG's. Maybe some cool RTS?

I'm totally out of the loop on videogames, the only games i really ever like were skate, battlefied 1942-vietnam and Far Cry 3

the battlefields are insanely fun when modded up with Forgotten Hope or the Vietnam mod. Forgot the name.

Far Cry 3 is really well written and a ton of fun to play, has much more then just COD type shooters. You can hunt animals, plants, people and so forth and the rewards you get are pretty sweet.

Meh I'm going to respectfully disagree. My coworker just bought an generation older mac pro with two 12 core xeons and it will be faster than the new mac pro and he only paid like 3k for the shell/mobo/processors

the new mac pro is a feat of engineering. just like the mbp retina. when that laptop came out, you could buy a normal MBP with better specs for cheaper, but the retina was certainly a more modern computer.

It's the way mac pros have gone, and it wont be long before the new computer is better than anything you can get in the old case. If anything it should reinforce that apple is still willing to innovate in traditional computers, which is really important If you are buying a computer for the next 5+ years.

Marveling at apples engineering is such a fucking cop out. Thats cool if you're into that but a fucking tower isn't that convenient and 100 times easier to work with.



My computer I bought for $1400 in the fall of 2012 is still faster than $3500 iMac from this year. Sure, the iMac is prettier, but if you're buy a work station computer for the looks, you're doing it wrong.

Also, the retina screen MBPs are such a gimmick, I like high res but lets be honest here, 2560x1440 is pretty detailed on a 27" iMac, its just annoying on a 15" screen, let alone 13"! I considering buying a 13" mbpr and compared the screen to the 13" mb air and they looked identical, its such a scam.

I don't see why higher res is annoying, unless software has not been updated to support it. Running a 15" scaled to 1920x1200 looks a lot better than a regular 15". If you have multiple terminal and emacs windows open at any given time you will notice the difference immediately.

It's not just this though, the computer is also a lot more portable, and reading from the disk is much faster than a regular MBP, even if it has an SSD. For people who need to do some fairly serious computing, and do it on the same machine as their daily driver it is a dream come true. Lugging around a heavy laptop all day with a power adaptor sucks compared to the retina MBP.

as I said though, the difference is not huge, but the important thing is that it shows apple is still innovating when it comes to its high-end computers. You might not care how big, hot, or loud your mac pro is, but other consumers obviously do. I personally would never buy a mac pro, because I can get a much more powerful computer, with a more powerful OS, for cheaper. There are lots of less tech savvy people who just need mac pros for artsy type stuff, and I would assume that in that community design is probably at least somewhat important.

I am not totally sure about the mac pro, but the macbook pro retina is certainly a leap forwards (coming from someone who has owned a macbook pro 13", 15" & 15" retina, as well as various linux desktop workstations).

A 13" mbp from 2010 will do 99% of what anyone ever needs from a small laptop, does someone really need pci-e SSD 15" mbpr for $2500 when they could spend $600 on a refurbished 13" mbp? Also, dont sit here and tell me the SSD speed difference between a regular mbp and a mbpr ACTUALLY effects your life. It doesn't, period.



Thats probably going to piss you off, but were in a nerd thread here, not an Mac vs PC thread, lets just agree to disagree at this point and move on. I encourage you to express your opinion back if you wish but I'm done arguing about it.

I had a gf in high school whose dad was really into rc planes. I had one rotting in my basement and he completely restored it for me. Girl and I broke up and I never really got to fly it with him.

This spring he died unexpectedly. It's been 7 years since we restored it but I pulled it out and got it running. I just don't really know how to fly it lol. I have all the stuff I need. Really wanna get into it but there's still snow and mud everywhere

well I guess I can agree to disagree, but stats and the physical characteristics of a computer are exactly what make it "functional". I have enough computing power to run fairly large simulations from my computer, and have it in a case that can slip easily into my backpack, so I think that would make it quite functional for my needs. The screen makes writing code and working with data-files easier than on my previous 15" macbook pro, because I can have many more frames open at one time and still see everything crisp and clear.

I needed a new computer, because my 5 year old MBP was not doing these things, I got the retina version, and I have no regrets.

I also do not love apple. I would be more happy with a linux based laptop if they made one powerful enough for my needs. I have no interest in learning how to use windows, so that rules out most of the other laptops. As I said, for my desktop workstations, which are much easier to run linux on, I choose to use that instead. Paying extra money for a mac desktop makes no sense to me. That is a far greater waste of money than paying $200 more for a retina screen.
