Hey guys, about a year ago a couple of buddies and myself started a business. We plan on incorporating media as one of our primary sources of advertising. I tried a lot of new stuff with this video, and put in my best effort to incorporate more tripod work with glide cam footage. Unfortunately we didn't have as much time to film as we had hoped in Aspen. As well, I hit some of the bigger jumps in my life with my glide cam for some follow footage. Let me know what you think!
You did really well, Taran. I think you've definitely got some ways to go for your filming and scripting, but you're learning way faster than I did. I like that you gave it a little more of a story. I think you should have included more shots of some of the brand products in order to associate the skiing with a brand, I didn't think that the beginning was as expositive enough. Your filming is getting a lot better, I'd say try to shoot more with the tripod and less with the glidecam, though my favorite shot out of the whole edit was the opposite jump glide where you went towards the skier as he came into the in-run and away from the skier as he left the kicker. I definitely plan on replicating that in some edits when I have the chance. Good work!
Thanks Gavin for the quality feedback! Yeah, I really want to move into more narrative pieces since I tend to struggle with them. I totally agree on the branding, we were in the process of releasing our products while I filmed most of the skiing, so didn't have to much of a chance to incorporate it. Ever since you released Adrift I have been craving to do an all tripod edit, however since Hank and PK were competing most of the time in aspen I only got two runs in of tripod footy. Will definitely keep all of that in mind, thanks for the advice man!
Really liked the camera work in the video. I guess my only comment was that I felt like the opening scene with the sledge hammer was a little overdone, coming into the video I had no idea where it came from. I feel like for stuff like that it either has to be way out there (the videos from virtika come to mind) or has to be a little more mellow. Idk if that makes sense but whatever. Sick video, was stoked watching it
