Filming help (slow-mo)

Nikon d5200
editing on Adobe Premier

So i'm trying to improve on my filming and editing i've yet to figure out the best way to create smooth slow motion. I was shooting at 1080, 30fps but i realized my mistake there. now i've moved to 720, 60fps.

do you guys have any tips on making good looking slow motion.

also i consider myself a beginner with filming/editing so if you have any other tips you think i wouldn't know it would be greatly appreciated.

film at the highest frame rate possible (in this case 60 fps at 720p). keep your shutter speed roughly double your frame rate (1/125 is good). in premiere, the slower you go the more noticeable the frame rate will be. generally anything up to about 80% will still look fine, anything above that and the frame rate will become more noticeable.

That depends entirely on what sequence you have setup for your footage. If you drop all of your footage into a 30fps timeline then he could slow his footage down to 50% without noticing anything. After slowing down past that he would begin to see duplicate frames.

so if i have footage shot at 720, 60fps and i put it in a sequence at 720, 30fps i can slow the footage down more?

Would you recommend doing this for all my editing even for just normal paced skiing shots?

ok so using some basic logic i figured if i divide the frame rate in a sequence and the frame rate i'm shooting at i get the percent i can slow it down and it have no duplicate frames.

i think i kind of have it down. but feel free to tell me if im crazy.

any other tips you "experts" would have for a newish filmer/editor
