Well boys, the end of ski season is approaching and I think we're all mildly upset about it. I know the regular season as in going to a mountain ends around mid-late April sometimes into May, but when do you guys stop hitting urban? There's basically no snow left where I am so it would be pretty hard to scavenge up some snow to hit a rail, but what about the rest of you? Any of you guys planning on having an urban session any time soon?
Nashoba closed last weekend. I consider that an urban ski resort. Like what the fuck seriously though there is so much snow there. they said their clientele wasnt enough to keep running but who doesnt like 40 degree sunny days on a 300 foot hill. im pissed about this because i didnt get one good spring day there
What the hell kind of a question is this? Urban ends whenever you loose the means of hitting the urban you want to hit or just don't feel like hitting it.
I've done plenty of late spring urban with snow from half frozen snowbanks. Done it in the summer/early fall with rink snow.
Even if you didn't have rink snow you could get a shit load of ice, have a drop in pre built and also a kicker that you could cover. Throw a carpet out with a little snow on the landing. Just smash it up in a trash can with a cinder block or something and you got snow.
In the summer if you do it at night the snow will last longer. Can salt the fuck out of it to freeze it as a base and then pack a little loose stuff on the kicker so you have something to get an edge into.
i was at nashoba this past weekend actually and the lifty said they MIGHT be open this coming weekend fri, sat, and/or sun. he said to check the site (which now says the same thing, we might be open, check back soon)
id love for them to be open again, last sunday was super fun springy skiing and theyre so close to boston
Your hill goes to late April? Lucky. Mt lacrosse closed Sunday and coffee mill is probably closing after this week. My ski season is practically over :'(
Use your resources properly and your season doesn't have to end. I set up a PVC rail on grass hill- no summer setup or anything. Just stepped on and I developed the ability to lock onto rails well.
