Maybe this is a really dumb question but....I have been relying on my local wallgreens to develop my film. Now though I am shooting a few rolls of tri-x, ectar, and velvia. Will they be able to process any of those? I asked and they didn't think they could do velvia but I don't think they even knew what it was. Anybody have any idea? Thanks!

not really, always look at sold listings to get an idea of what you should be paying when looking at old camera gear.

That's the only one I've found in good shape with the mc mount. I suppose I could get an adapter but it wouldn't look as sexy. Thanks for the advice though.

So I have been researching light meters more, and it seems that the Gossen Luna-XXX is the way to go because of their low light sensitivity and low price. Where I am confused is the different versions, models, and battery types. I have read on different forums that the luna-pro is better and that the lunasix is better. I really just want the meter that uses batteries that are easy to get (so I guess it has to be newer) and that is more sensitive in low light.

i have a question about filters. i received a sunpak filter kit, like this one,


is this a filter for the flash or what? i know its a noob question, but I'm thrown off for how to use them. if they are for the flash, what is their application? thanks!

they are gels for flashes, used for either adding colored light or color temp correction

Just went to the store to pick up a pro pack of Ektar. Prices are $5.75/roll. Lady behind the counter saw the 5 pack and put 1 under the quantity. Grand total = $5.85 for 5 rolls of Ektar in 120.

In other news, I'm about to take my annual Oregon pilgrimage and I want to experiment with pushing/pulling. I have a pro pack of Tri-X and Ektar, and a couple rolls of Pro 400h. I've seen gorgeous results from pushing pro 400h to 1600 in cloudy weather, but I don't know how it looks in sunlight. Never seen pushed Ektar that I liked (someone please change my opinion). As for Tri-X...push to 800 or 1600?

Tri-X can be pushed to infinity.

Not really a 100% crop but I never save the 500mb Plustek raws after proccesing.

When pushing pretty much any b&w film your developer choice and method are more important in determining how it will come out, you can shoot trix at just about anything. It's native 320 and some even claim it to be native around 200. I almost always shoot it at 800 even in mid day light so I can stop down and still be over 250 for street.

That doesn't look much contrastier than shooting at box speed. I never shoot indoors so low light isn't an issue - I thought pushing was supposed to make it uber grainy/punchy?

Don't have access to home dev stuff anymore; I'll be taking these all to a lab when I get back. I'll be shooting in bright-as-fuck lighting most of the time, so unless there's some punch/grain to be gained, I don't see much of a point.

Now how about that Ektar? Anyone have any good stories from pushing? Or does it get too fluorescent looking?

It does. But I really like the look of it. Don't try pushing it to infinity. A stop can look pretty cool I think.

Ektar gains a lot of contrast when you push it, but don't go further than 1 stop.

Anything b&w, their basic colored filters have 4x multi coating, their hmc versions are 8x. I got a basic because I dont shoot dirrectly into yhe sun very much and have a hood

My fixed AE-1 finally arrived in the mail today, and it works like its brand new. I got the film loaded, and I don't think I've ever been so excited to hit the shutter on a camera before. Hopefully I'll get some good pictures with it in Toronto!


Cool story here >>> That Fed 3 that I bought a while back, 5 weeks to be exact, is pretty much lost. I emailed Ukrposhta asking why it had been in processing for so long; I didn't expect a reply. Today, they informed me that the Russia post has taken over all shipping in Crimea and now have my package. So yeah, don't buy stuff from a country while its being annexed. My bad. haha

I buy all my stuff off B&H and ship it to Canada but I'm sure you could find a good photography shop in MTL. Ask your prof where they buy there materials?

I talked to her about using the dark room and she said she wouldnt mind if i bring my own paper so it's nice but theres only two weeks left to the semester to develop my films

Looks like a Maxxum 7000? It's hard telling if it's worth it unless you have some information on the glass.

Yah the ad was incredibly vague. No info on the glass, condition, model, anything really.

Its being sold super close to my house so I may try and just go check everything out tomorrow.

Without a shadow of doub it's the Minolta Maxxum/Dynax 7000 with either the BH-70T lithium or BH-70L AA battery holder (which are superior to the silly AAA battery holder) the white spunk on the grip is some strange reaction that happens when it hasn't been used in a while.

I'm not sure about the lenses, but top left is probably the Minolta 100-200 f4.5, the other two look third party (Lacking the signature Minolta diagonal rubber grip hashing) with the one one the right probably being a Sigma based on the grip.

It's overpriced despite not knowing what lenses the other two are based on the fact that I would sell you the superior Dynax 7000i with 35-80 for less.
