Me and my friend where filming and hiking for 30 minutes after the lift closed at our mountain today. We where hiking this one feature because our ride was delayed. We where chilling with some other people and filming at our park. Then ski patrol came and pushed us out. Everyone fled, my friend just took off this ski when ski patrol started yelling at me and him. I sided stepped 4 more steps and hit the rail and left. My friend put his away camera and popped back into this skis and tried to leave. Then ski patrol came up to him and said that he was "uncooperative and not being respectful to ski patrol." Then thwy wrote down his season pass number and also said "I will make sure that you will not ski for 2 more years and the rest of the season." I was waiting for this time at a top of a run, until ski patrol asked me to leave. My friend is going to be depressed as hell. Skiing is his life. Please help me and my friend protest against Durango Mountain Resort ski patrol, of what they did to my friend. Use the hash-tag #getaribackonsnow on instagram or twitter to support us.
Honestly you guys are lucky you didnt get a fine or ticket or even the cops called. As the resort was closed they could have got you on trespassing or something like that
A similar thing happened to me yesterday. The lift closed a couple minutes early, and so I was gonna hike up and take one more run through the park. But a ski patrol stopped me and told me I couldn't. This guy is a real douche though. He's done stuff like this more than once. Any of the other ski patrols would've let me do it. I really hate that guy..
There are rules for guest conduct, so if your friend slipped an f bomb in at some point or anything like that they can get you for that. Also there are rules for skiing on the mountain (or at least using mountain equipment) past closing.
I mean 2 years is a harsh punishment so hopefully it won't come to that.
If the ski patrol came and asked you to leave, then there shouldnt have been a problem if you stayed there, explained your situation, listened to them, showed them respect and left. But from what it sounds like you guys tried to "flee" and you hit the rail after they told you to leave so your punishment may be hard to negate
Ive never really heard many good things about DMR, heard they especially like pulling passes. In 09' they pulled some lady's season pass because she bitched about their new operating schedule on the internet.
