Ive been through a bunch of skis and they have all gotten edge cracks...i got salomon suspects for this year and the edges are gone where you slide rails. yeah they suck but does every ski get edge cracks at some point?

yea it pretty much just happens after hitting rails, just make sure you detune a little underfoot and this will help a little, you'll get more edge cracks if they're super sharp, ive also heard that the rapid heating and cooling makes them brittle and can lead to cracks, the friction of the metal heats up the edge real quick and when it hits the cold snow they become a little more brittle, not sure if this is true though

Your suspects are part of the problem... them are notoriously shitty. I have probably 12 edge cracks on the inside edge of my right ski (2011 suspects).

You are spot on. Not many people realise it's the constant heating and cooling which can have an effect on cracks. Also thicker edges will heat more so going thicker is not always the answer.
